Description

This is extremely difficult to write as this puppy was remaining with us from our litter. Please NO time wasters. Coming on leaps and bounds daily! With the right person, he would adapt well. Gunner, The sweetest, kindest, most gentle and loving puppy you could ever ask for. A face you can never say no to. A soul you couldn’t help but fall in love with. KC registered, from health tested parents whom both are working dogs. 7 months old. Vaccinated, microchipped, treated for fleas, ticks and wormed regularly. He is a small Labrador like his mum, small framed and not tall. From a litter of 7. Whelped indoors, lived indoors as a family dog with other dogs including his dam. He is used to house life, very quiet, follows me around like a shadow. He will follow you from room to room but will happily lay down at your feet while you cook, wash up etc. Doesn’t get under your feet, just wants to be close and part of what you’re doing. Gets on well with all our other dogs - ranging from old to young and dogs and bitches. Not aggressive, submissive but loves to play. Excellent with our daughter who is 3, but he wouldn’t suit boisterous children as he would be frightened, if they are calm, he will absolutely adore them. 90% toilet trained - if you left him hours, he would mess on the floor right next to the door. He knows where he is meant to toilet and always does when he is let out regularly or the door is left open. He loves to be brushed. Has his legs and paws washed in the bath. Can be picked up without panicking. Has been shown the nail clipping process but more to get him used to it as his nails are very short from all the running around and playing he does. Has seen ponies, sheep and chickens, just keeps his distance. He knows his name, comes to call, walks to heal, sits. He will sit and wait when being fed and only eats after giving a command. He can be called away from distractions. He will retrieve for me but looses attention after a short time but he is still young. He is not used to a lead but this would be easy to overcome. You might get to this point and think, why aren’t we keeping him, he is perfect…. the only reason he would be better suited to a new home is, he is not keen on men or a person that is authoritative. He was also bullied by the last 2 other remaining litter mates before they found homes. Ideally needs a female owner whom is very calm, quiet and understanding but confidence giving. With time, he would get used to new people. He would warm to a family as oppose to a sole female owner, but would be more bonded to a female I would imagine. He has never been hit or scalded, he is just a very submissive dog who takes after his mum. Mum is very much a one person dog, she bonds with one person and no one else then exists. She also prefers women. With us, Gunner would be required to work for my other half who is a gamekeeper. Gunner does not want to be friends with him after exhausting attempts. He will interact with him, take food from him, let him stroke him, just doesn’t want to be friends and will come and sit near me. We know this is not something he will grow out of over time as his mum is the same - she still prefers a female handler although she will begrudgingly work for my other half if I’m not present but still gives 110% as wants to please. Ideal home would have another young ish dog present, male/female so he has company as he loves to play. Needs outdoor space, not a town house or flat. He won’t do well if left alone for long periods. Ideally a home where someone works from home, retired or he can go with you to work. When left currently, he goes outside in a kennel with his mum but does stress if left for long periods (can see him on CCTV). He’d happily be an active pet or companion but would likely love doing a job, agility, scent work - as long as it does not involve other people. You would need to establish a bond before attempting anything, otherwise he would sit in a corner and wait to go home. Once a bond is established, he would do anything you ask to his best ability. He wants to please but needs confidence. With other dogs would be fine. Before him leaving us, you would need to set aside time to visit more than once and spend some time with him. Happy to travel if you’re not hours away so he can see his new home before he leaves. I would love to stay in touch with whomever provides the perfect place. Not excessively, just updates now and again to know he’s doing ok and how he’s grown up. If this isn’t for you, please don’t enquire. We stay in touch with most owners who have rehomed dogs from us or bought puppies. If he doesn’t find the right person, I will happily keep him and train him for some line of work and find him a home when he is trained in whatever that may be. Will come with a blanket that’s smells of the dogs he lives with and a bag of dog food. Details of sure and dam below: Sire: FTW HAWKSGARTH HUSTLE OF MYNYDDDU - Beau the sire is a well put together dog, a good medium to large lab. He has an amazing temperament, not a soft dog, neither headed. Very easy to train, a case of showing him what you want and he does it. He’s placed in tests, won a novice trial making him a field trial winner in what was his second trial. A lot of his offspring coming through are winning and placing in tests. Dam: LABBROADOAK MARTINI - Bumble, the Dam, is a small, athletic, well proportioned bitch with a beautiful deep red coat. She’s a working gamekeepers dog from very good working lines and is very eager to please but also lives indoors as a family dog when at home. Very loyal dog, helpful around the house and very good with our daughter.
