Description

How big? Extra large (50kg) How old? Adult (around three years) Male or female? Male Living with kids? I can live with children Living with dogs? I'm friendly with other dogs, but would prefer to be the only resident dog Resident dog required? No Living with cats? I’ve not been tested with cats Where can I live? I’d like an active home with experienced adopters Where am I from? UK (currently in Poole, Dorset) About Blue Blue is currently based in Poole, Dorset and unfortunately, his family have made the heartbreaking decision to rehome him. Sadly, he and the resident dog have started to clash, and they feel that Blue would be happier and more settled as the only dog, where he can have the space, attention and stability he thrives on. Blue is a three year old Cane Corso mix and a big boy at around 50kg, but those who know him best describe him as a giant softie at heart. He loves his toys, especially chasing a ball or a good game of tug, and food is very much a highlight of his day - be careful what you leave lying around! At home, Blue’s favourite thing in the world is being close to his family. He adores cuddling up on the sofa in front of the fire, resting his huge head in your lap, and will happily curl up on the bed. He likes to follow you from room to room and takes real comfort in being by your side. He is a truly devoted companion once he’s formed a bond with you. Around people, Blue is friendly and affectionate. He will bark when someone rings the doorbell, taking his role as home protector seriously, but once told to go to his bed he settles straight away, reassured that everything is under control. He has grown up around young children and has also spent time with older children without any issues, always gentle and tolerant. Blue enjoys a good long walk and walks beautifully on a halti. Because of his size he can look intimidating to others, but he is well managed on lead and kept close to his handler when other dogs are around, just to give everyone the comfort that he is very much under control. His recall is excellent, he responds reliably to commands such as sit, down, stay, come, leave and bed, and he works best with positive reinforcement and high value treats. Despite his giant appearance, Blue is a sensitive soul and responds much better to kindness and consistency than to being told off. He’s just a baby at heart. Blue is generally fine around other dogs, and his family are so upset to be making this decision, especially as at the start he and the resident dog were good friends. However, we feel now that he would much prefer to be someone’s one and only, soaking up all the love and attention and forming a strong bond. He is crate trained and house trained, and has learned so many good behaviours and commands since being adopted. He will be perfect for someone looking for their dream soulmate dog, because that’s what he is. Blue is looking for an active, experienced owner or couple who understand large, powerful breeds and are happy to continue his training in a calm, consistent way. He would suit a quiet, organised home without other pets, where he is not left alone for long periods and where sofa cuddles are very much part of daily life. For the right person, he will be an incredibly devoted best friend who just wants to be close and loved. In return, Blue will genuinely love you more than anything in the world.
