Description
This listing is for 6 nymphs (L1 to L3) of Peruphasma schultei, the black beauty stick insect. This active phasmid species originates from Peru in South America and has wonderful and unusual colouration. Both males and females are very similar in appearance both being velvet black with striking red 'bud-wings' which they open whenever they are startled or handled.
The females are slightly bigger than the males but still only 7cm long so they can be kept in a tank or cage around 25cm in height. Once adult the females become rather 'chubby' and will lay hundreds of eggs which hatch after 3 or 4 months. Don't keep all the eggs or you will soon be overrun with hundreds of tiny nymphs!
These fascinating and beautiful insects are easy to keep at room temperature and feed on privet at all stages of growth. Full care sheets are readily available on the web (just google 'Peruphasma schultei care').
We post out all orders using Royal Mail 1st Class postage on Monday and Tuesday each week. This is to - hopefully - avoid the insects being stuck in the postal system over the weekend and to ensure you receive them as soon after posting as possible.
