Poppy is currently in County Durham and she is looking for a new home because her owner sadly has mobility issues.
Poppy is a Beagle and she is 6 years old (DOB 1/6/2019). Poppy came over from Spain in August 2023 as she was found in a pound, pregnant. She had a healthy litter of puppies. She tested negative to Mediterranean diseases.
Poppy can be a nervous girl as she had a tough start in life but she likes her routine and structure. She does get unsettled if anything new is added to her life. She can be reactive on lead to other dogs but not all dogs – there does not appear to be a trigger to work on. She will need someone patient and experienced to help her.
She loves her walks and gets very excited to go but she has zero recall so Poppy is not a dog that can be off lead. She loves a good sniff and is a true scenthound. She can be triggered by men, hi viz jackets and mobility scooters.
At home, she loves her comfy bed and will sleep well during the day and at night. She is crate trained and will go in her crate for a few hours if she is left. She loves to be brushed and pampered. She travels well in the car.
She is a little “guard dog” and will alert her owner to a delivery coming to the house by barking.
She can live with other dogs and a meet up would be advised first. Cats are unknown.
If you feel you can give Poppy the time, patience and reassurance she needs then please message with information about your family, ages of everyone in the home, existing pets & work hours. All enquiries will be looked at. We only rehome to England, Wales & Scotland.
Please note: We are looking for a secure garden with fencing or walls to a minimum of 5ft. We also need the dogs to be kept on a lead, long lunge lead or for people to use enclosed fields for off lead exercise as these dogs are scent hounds & have hunting backgrounds. We do not rehome with children under 8 years old.
