**He is not suitable for 1st time owners, please only apply if you have experience with large dogs and/or GSDs** Very hard sale. Please don't be offended if we turn you down, as I want Bear to go to the perfect home. Bear is a 2½ year old long coated bi colour KC male GSD (I will have to find the papers as we've had him for two years and recently had our kitchen and bedrooms done up. He is the ideal house dog, absolutely perfect in every sense, he is toilet trained, understands sit, and understands down with a hand gesture along with a voice command. He is amazing with all visitors that come to the home. Bear loves his teddys and chew toys. He enjoys cuddles and attention, very much enjoys lounging around the home. He very rarely comes on sofa and when he does its for a 20 min cuddle. Can easily train him if you don't prefer sofa dogs. We adopted him from a farm at around 7months because we had alot of weirdos around our area trying door handles and a few breaks in down the road. He is absolutely brilliant at guarding his home as males are territorial so he will bark at the door or any strange noises. He is very good with family feeding times unlike my other two, he will take himself away from food and lay down because he knows he'll get a treat after food. Walking wise, he tends to pull hard for the 1st 5 mins and then is a delight, we use a halti head collar, if he's full of energy we put on a weighted vest, no more than 10% of his weight. A 30 min walk is usually enough to burn off his excess energy. He can sometimes react to other dogs on walks but I have put in a lot of time and effort to help him manage. He now only reacts if your on the same side as another dog or if the dog barks at him 1st but he will snap out of it in a few seconds (this is due to him starting life on a farm and missed out on socialising at a young age) For the time being I wouldn't think of adopting if you have another dog. He settled in well with my bitch and when they had a litter he was so amazing with his pups. So maybe a female pup in the future if your considering another dog. Bear like most shepherd has anxiety so it's important to know when he's feeling uncomfortable. (Whale eye, closing his mouth instead of panting, pinned ears, avoiding eye contact) Never had an issue with Bear, more so having to train my kids to respect the dogs 😂 Unfortunately Bear cannot tolerate cats, we've tried to work on him for the 2 years we've had him. We have dog gates but with our kids up and down the stairs we can't guarantee the gate will always be on. Only other downside is he has travel sickness, so if you pick him up, I'd bring a second person along to hold a bucket under his mouth. Bear is an absolutely amazing dog, solely due to the safety of the cats and him getting more bolder with his challenges towards the cats we are having to rehome. If for whatever it doesn't work out please bring him back, or we will travel to get him. We really need a perfect home for this guy.
