Description

πŸ’™πŸΆ BEAR – A Gentle Giant with a Loyal Heart πŸΆπŸ’™ 🏠 LOOKING FOR FOSTER OR FOSTER-TO-ADOPT 🏠 πŸ“ Located: Peterborough, Spalding, PE12 🌟 RBU, post-adoption support, and 4 weeks free PetPlan insurance provided upon adoption BEAR- the Shepherd is a beautiful, kind-hearted two-year-old boy who has already survived more hardship than any dog should. Rescued by Paws team from severe neglect, this young shepherd (or mix) is showing everyone just how much love he has to give. With his playful spirit, gentle soul, and deep loyalty, Bear is ready to start the next chapter of his life – with the right, experienced, and understanding home to support him. 🌟 Highlights πŸ”Ή SIZE: Large (typical shepherd size) πŸ”Ή SPAYED/NEUTERED: No (neutering will be arranged by the rescue) πŸ”Ή CHARACTER HIGHLIGHTS: Loyal, affectionate, playful, sensitive πŸ”Ή DOGS: was friendly with other dogs, but it might change in kennels, needs to be assessed. πŸ”Ή CATS: Untested πŸ”Ή CHILDREN: Adult-only home πŸ’” Rescue Story Bear was rescued by us, Paws Help Team, along with two other shepherds from dreadful conditions – abandoned in a yard of empty house, starved, and left to fend for themselves for months. Despite everything, Bear’s spirit remains gentle and trusting. During the rescue operation, he cuddled up to volunteers and even tried to climb onto a lap, desperate for affection and comfort. Since being rescued, Bear has continued to show his affectionate side, building bonds with those who care for him. However, Bear’s past trauma has left him sensitive to certain situations. Recently he went to foster, but sadly had an incident where he reacted with stress/fear-based aggression when was taken for a walk next day on arrival and had to return to kennels, as it wasn’t safe for foster family with kids and other dogs. Because of this, Bear must only be placed into an adult-only, experienced dog home where calm structure, clear boundaries, and proper handling are part of daily life. Bear is not a dangerous dog, but he needs understanding of those who have experience with large breeds and a short time for decompression. His loyalty, once earned, is beautiful β€” but his adopters must be realistic regarding settlement. 🐾 Detailed Information Bear is affectionate, loyal, and playful with those he knows and trusts. He thrives on human connection but needs a calm, confident handler. He travels well, enjoys outings, and loves gentle play with friendly dogs. He needs a home where he can decompress, feel safe, and be gradually introduced to new experiences. He is still learning to feel fully confident in different situations, and positive, reward-based training will help him continue growing into the wonderful dog he can be. We don’t know his past history as he wasn’t registered by owners and they never got in touch with us, so patience and commitment will be important in helping him adjust. He should not be pushed too fast, and he should have a structured life with plenty of positive reinforcement. As with many male dogs, we don’t recommend pairing Bear with other male dogs to prevent competition , as soon as he lived a long time with two other female Shepherds, he might suit a calm and friendly female dog, but careful introduction is necessary (we are happy to support with advice). 🏑 Ideal Family Bear needs an experienced, calm, and dog-savvy adult-only home. A house in a quiet area (rural or semi-rural) would suit him best, with a secure garden. His future family must be willing to invest time and patience into building trust and routine for him. Bear needs understanding handlers who can offer him stability and who are familiar with working with sensitive dogs who require boundaries and reassurance. We encourage to visit Bear in kennels, speak to volunteer, who cares about him now, to have a walk with him to build some basis of trust. For the right family, Bear will be a devoted, affectionate, and loyal companion for whole his life. ❀️ Bear has survived more than many could imagine. He still believes in people – he just needs the right ones. If you can offer Bear the calm, understanding home he deserves, you will be rewarded with the deepest bond imaginable. 🩺 Health Information Bear is fully healthy. Not yet neutered (rescue will arrange this). Fully vaccinated and microchipped. πŸ’Œ If you can offer foster or foster-to-adopt, please fill out a form: πŸ”— Foster-to-Adopt/Adoption Form : https://forms.gle/vHdDRdjFzXngqzUC9
