About Clover
At the beginning of May, our Head of Adoptions, Eve, was alerted to a family of dogs living on a disused piece of farmland in the middle of nowhere. The dogs had been reported to have been terrified, but one by one she managed to lure the puppies to safety.
All of the puppies were frozen with fear when they were first rescued. Their interactions with humans had probably been extremely limited and it’s likely they’d never really been handled or up close to them before. It took a while before the pups would warm to anyone at the shelter and they watched their mum closely to figure out how they should behave. As of the 20th July, the Farm Family are now all in UK foster homes waiting to find their permanent families.
In the shelter, Clover was without a doubt the most nervous of the litter. However, she’s made significantly impressive progress since arriving in the UK and within days was showing so much more confidence and bravery. She is still shy, especially with new people, but having two resident dogs to learn from and the kindness from an amazing foster is working wonders for her. She is a different dog to the one that left the shelter! This gives us a lot of reassurance that in the right home, with some patience, time and understanding, Clover is only going to continue to blossom.
Clover would prefer a predictable home with routine and a calm atmosphere. We feel that she would definitely be best suited to a home with another dog that can help her feel safe and reassured, especially seeing how well she has responded so far to her resident dog friends. She would be best suited to a semi-rural home away from any busy areas, and with a family who can take things slowly and gently.
There’s not a bad bone in Clover’s body and she is the most sweet, gentle and loving little puppy who just needs a bit of time to come out of her shell. She’s done so much better than we could have anticipated - we expected her to be very shut down to start with but she’s been brave, cheeky, playful and cuddly from day one!
