🌈 Mary 🌈
12.2 8 year old Welsh pony
This is a very honest advert and a hard decision.
When we bought Mary we had very little background info but all intentions of us being her forever home. Mary really is an amazing pony and very special to me. Once she gets to know you she won’t leave your side. She will do absolutely anything for food! She listens all the time, is great for the farrier, will load fine, stand to be groomed all day and is so loving towards my small children. She is broken to ride and drive. I have had the driving harness on her and she has been great but I don’t have a cart. She loves going out a hack, going through our river. I have had her in the forest and the beach and she was perfect.
Mary is not phased with farm machinery, cars, camper vans or motorcycles passing her on the road but will spook with silly things like a crisp packet on the verge, men shouting or a traffic cone. She is not nasty at all when she does this, Has never reared or bucked but I live on a fast road and it’s just not safe for me or her. When she does this She freezes, breathes fast and I can tell she’s stressing and in turn with my lack of experience stresses me. When this happens I just speak to her and she calms right down and after a few minutes and will carry on with the ride. She will walk perfectly on a lead rope with my son and isn’t bothered with anything (I presume because I’m there with her) so for this reason I feel either someone with more experience could stop this behaviour or she would be a fantastic lead rein pony. She moves fantastic and would do well at showing- but showing just isn’t something I am interested in doing.
Unfortunately she is far too small for me to use or she would be staying as I have a really soft spot for her but I feel she is too young to be a field ornament.
