Description
(Goniurosaurus bawanglingensis) i am looking to rehome my female bawangling chinese cave gecko due to me going away for quite some time. these tropical geckos are a relatively intermediate pets and would strongly recommend to those who have had other species of retpile before especially tropical species. they have similar characteristics to that of a leopard gecko however they require a very humid environment compared to their desert counterparts (around 70-80% in the day and reaaching >90% at night) temperatures should also stay around 26C during the day and arouind abouts 18-19C at night. they are a very timid nocturnal species especially compared to leopard geckos and should not be handled often (i mainly take her out to weigh her and check how healthy she looks). because of this i would not recommed for pet owners looking for a friendly handlablke reptile like a bearded dragon. their diet consists of mainly crickets (i like to use a mix of black and brown crickets around 8-12mm in length) and potentially dubia roaches every now and then and be sure to dust each meal with calcium and vitamin D3 powder to prevent metabollic bone disease. when setting up the enclosure be sure to use natural substrates (like coco fibre) with a drainage layer underneath (clay balls) and seperate to prevent water from staying in soil and causing mold. create large amounts of hiding areas and as a suggestion use things like sphagnum moss in some of the hides to keep the humidity high. they are climbers and will climb often so be sure to add hardscape like low lying branches to reduce chance of risk whilst also keeping them stimulated and more comfortable in their environment. finally use some naturalistic additions like large bushy plants as extra cover and to make their enclosure more natural to what theyre used to. this gecko is just over 2 years old and has produced many eggs in the past so she is a good candidate if you are looking for a breeding partner. feel free to ask me any other questions regarding this reptile. i have had this gecko since around a month old and i have had zero issues with health or aggression
