We are unfortunately having to say goodbye to our bonded pair of horsefield tortoises due to not having the space for a decent set up since moving- we have 2 dogs that will try anything to get to them and so they have to be upstairs safely away from them where we have limited space and they deserve a much better quality of life than we are now able to offer them. It will absolutely break all of our hearts but it is the best decision for them to go to a better home with more space and time for them!!
The first 2 individual photos show 'Hugs' our girl who is 13 and owned by my husband since she was born and matchbox size. Initially was Hugo and presumed to be male but is actually female and so had a cute name change :)
The second 2 pictures are of our chunky boy Norman (Norm) who we believe to be approximately 20 years old. We rescued Norm from a family who badly mistreated him he had no safe bed and roamed free where he was regularly kicked by their children and nipped by their dog, and he came to us in a very sorry state and could be quite aggressive. We have had him for around 8 years and he is a completely different boy now, he is much more handleable but can still try and nip at times (as will any tortoise) especially around food so caution should be taken with little ones.. but our 3 young children have grown up with them and are brilliant at knowing how to sensibly handle both of them and we've never had any injury to worry about..
They are in and will come with a relatively newly built bed on 2 levels that is easily accessible for cleaning out. We will also provide the spot cleaning scoop, calcium powder, pellet food (which should only be an occasional treat and not main diet), heat bulb, water bowl, feeding slate, their current substrate to minimize stress when moving and also their outdoor run for the warmer weather!
They do NOT hibernate!! And if you want them to then careful maintenance of weight needs to be done to make sure they gain enough over the summer months, and they are not a 'breeding pair' as we have intentionally kept a low level of substrate to avoid hugs trying to nest, however, they do still 'mate' regularly and so with lots of feeding you and a much deeper substrate then there is the potential In the future that they may in fact breed. They adore being around each other so we would prefer them to go together, so the price is for the pair and inclusive of everything they need!
It is really important to us that they go to a fantastic new home with people that can look after them well and understand how to properly care for a tortoise! We would hope that a new home could also in time offer a bigger bed, but the one they are on is adequate as long as they are also given plenty of 'floortime' and time outside in nice weather.
They are a huge commitment so please only serious inquiries.

We can negotiate on the price, but silly offers will not be acknowledged, as this is already a very fair price for 2 tortoises and a full set up!
