Description

We are unfortunately having to rehome Dougie (also known as Doug/Douglas). Due to the main reason our youngest daughter’s health is being affected by him due to her eczema worsened because she has got an allergy causing her to be really suffering. We rehomed from his previous owners back in November 2024. And with only having him a short while we are gutted it hasn’t worked out for us and he does adore kids and is a great family dog but my daughter’s health has to come first. And after speaking to her consultants this is the step we must take. When we did rehome him we soon found out that he needed more attention than what we were told. I had asked loads of questions when speaking to the previous owner and also when we met up in person. Just to make sure he was right for us as a family. But soon after having him for a few days we noticed he can sometimes be reactive to other dogs and people but not all. As he has met up with family & friends dogs and got on well. It can be more on walks but I will say not all the time (Depending on his mood I suppose, just like us humans!). He has become better in someways since coming home with us, as in he doesn’t seem as timid when meeting new people as his been well socialised when I’ve been able to take him to work but he will be weary and soon be warm to people when first meeting them. Which is normal for a lot of dogs. He does get left in his dog crate if and when he is left home alone and we make sure his left with puzzle toys/bones/lick mats/filled kong balls, to help make him feel more settled. He does suffer with separation anxiety but again with exercise before he is left he does seem better. Dougie is a loving dog and very loyal to his owners and you do feel protected by him. He will happily sit by you all day and keep you company as much as you him. He loves his walks and walks well. He is a quick learner and improved massively on his commands and tricks in the little time we’ve had him (6 months). His up to date with his vaccines and had his yearly booster in February 2025. On his birthday (21st). Also then had his full vet health check and passed with flying colours. Also he is up to date with worm & flea. And is microchipped. He has a lean physique and how his meant to be for his breed Doberman cross Springer spaniel. And has a lovely shiny coat. He has a docked tail, which this was done by previous owners when he was 14 weeks old due to splitting the end of his tail after wagging it so hard and catching the end of his tail. You will understand this when he does get excited to see you he has the most wiggling bum and tappy feet. When we got him in November 2024 he came with nothing apart from a jumper that no longer fits him. As his put on the healthy weight he needed to. So we have brought a lot of things for him that was absolutely needed. We are putting him up for the cost it was that we brought him for as to make sure he goes to the right home. Dougie will come with his essential stuff (stuff that we didn’t get when we got him). **We do have a indoor dog crate and a car crate for safety but to have these 2 items then these would be at an extra cost as they were not cheap, which for this would be an extra £100, which is a good deal for what they are and size wise - if you would like dimensions please message me** Dougie would be fine for a family and even better if his always with someone to help with separation anxiety and he is ok with dogs but can be reactive to some. But as said before he has been fine with family & friends dogs & happily played with them. So would probably be best he would be the only dog just to be sure. A garden with high fences and well fenced/gated would be needed, as if the fence is not tall enough he will jump over it. If you have anymore questions and would like to meet Dougie then please message me, this is not a decision we’ve taken lately but for family health reasons it’s a must.
