Description

Thank you for clicking through to read about Cheese, let me tell you all about my boy. Cheese came in to my life when he was just 10 weeks old and for 7 years he has been my shadow, my protector and my Best Boy. He has saved my life countless times when my mental health has been at its worst which is why this is such a heartbreaking decision. I am in desperate search of a forever home for Cheese because of issues regarding behaviour and housing arrangements. The most concerning behavioural issue is his Separation Anxiety; Cheese isn’t okay with being left alone (even for short periods of time). He barks and jumps to the point of exhaustion until he is reunited with his people. Cheese is also very reactive - he’s never shown any aggression to people or dogs but due to lack of socialisation, he isn’t sure how to communicate his excitement so he just barks in pursuit of friends. Cheese lived with another male dog for many years with no issue and when meeting new dogs, once he’s off lead and they’re able to suss each other out everything is fine but the barking can be quite off putting to other owners and/or nervous dogs. Cheese does know how to be a good boy but is very selective when it comes to actually obeying commands. Due to a relationship split, subsequent changes in housing followed by noise complaints and the possibility of eviction, the search for his forever home has began. Although Cheese has issues please acknowledge that they have all been caused by the way I’ve raised him. Cheese’s duty has been to recognise and help soothe when my mental illness is at it’s peak but even when I’m “ok” for a short while, my ability to be consistent in his training/walking/socialising is unreliable at best. I take full responsibility for his anxieties and reactive behaviour and am therefore confident that he can change when with someone else. Cheese needs someone with the time and patience to help him learn to be a “dog” and not just emotional support. Although the circumstances are forcing me to find him a forever home, I think it would be extremely selfish on my part to fight against it. Cheese deserves a chance at a happy and calm life and I know that I cannot offer him that. If you’ve read through all the difficult stuff so far then please now learn all about the good boy that I’m heartbroken to be giving up… Cheese is the sweetest, cuddliest little fluffball. He is very much a “person” dog and will always choose fusses over playtime. He enjoys being groomed with no fears/issues with clippers/dryers/nail clips etc however he absolutely hates water (and lets the whole house know during bathtime). He travels well in the car and on busses. He’s always slept in my bedroom, usually on the bed but is more than happy to lay on a pillow on the floor nearby. He isn’t crate trained (and I’m not sure he could be as he freaks out pretty bad when I’ve tried before). Cheese is 7 years old, fixed, UTD on vaccinations and flea/worm treatments. He eats “Wellness Core Senior” dry dog food (with added supplements for joint care and anal gland care), “Whimzee” chews and other natural ingredient treats. I think Cheese needs a home with a person/people who have the patience and time to teach him how to be a proper dog… to help him learn that it’s safe to be alone sometimes and the right way to act when meeting new people. He needs a consistent routine and a non-stressful environment where he can be the main focus until his issues are dealt with. I truly believe he is capable of change as I think it’s actually me that’s the problem. If you think you’ve got the time, space and love for my boy then please reach out to me. I want the best for him - he deserves the best. We’re currently in Kettering NN16 and he is ready to go once we’ve found the perfect fit. I hope to hear from you soon, Natalie & Cheese 07723945436
