Description

Last years rams that have successfully bread lambs in 2025 for sale or hire. Friendly will come to the bucket and will eat from your hand, easy to handle and move. Also available are soay sheep for hire. Offering sheep rentals for grazing and controlling vegetation in areas where traditional mowing is difficult or undesirable. Good for cleaning up scrub land, keeping the hedges trimmed, mowing the lawn and or just keeping the grass down!! In small or larger areas, Long or short term. They get on ok with horses too!! This is an eco-friendly alternative to using chemicals or machinery for weed control. Sit back, relax and let them do the work!! Soay sheep are a primitive breed, native to the islands of St. Kilda. They make great conservation grazers so given time will clear the weeds and undergrowth. These sheep have a wool that sheds naturally without the need for shearing, the tails do not need docking and they lamb on their own with ease and are not prone to fly strike, worms or foot rot. This makes them a great easy care sheep. They are much smaller than the average sheep, ewes up to 25kg, making them very easy to handle. They have fantastic characters and are great to have around, much nicer to keep you fields down than a lawnmower! Whilst they are a little more wary, we have always found the more time you put in to building trust and bonds with them the better they get. They live a lot longer than other breeds. They are food motivated so come Running straight to a bucket. Soay are brighter than your average sheep. Having had soays we would never go back to any other breed of sheep, they are so easy to look after and so rewarding, we recommend them to anyone. They truly are a great all round breed and great for first time sheep keepers. Feel free to ask me any questions. Anyone interested in keeping sheep will need a holding number (CPH number) for their property or land.
