Murphy is a very loving, kind and loyal working cocker spaniel who is Kennel Club Registered, microchipped and is up to date with all vaccinations and health checks. She came from Autumnwillow Gundogs breeder, born in November 2020 and is of a high pedigree value with a beautiful shiny coat (which never needs washing!)
Low price set just to cover off advertising fees for re-homing as the priority is that Murphy goes to a loving and suitable new home. We are not looking to make money from this.
Murphy has bundles of energy when out on walks as all cocker spaniels do, but also is great at home and loves to snooze the day away. The perfect balance of fun & cuddles.
Murphy loves people and dogs that she knows (she goes to a daycare in on a farm twice a week and loves mixing with all the dogs there), but is of a nervous temperament so takes a while to warm up to any person or dog she meets for the first time, especially in her own home. We do this by ensuring she meets new dogs or people outside and after two or three minutes she is happy and relaxed & makes best friends with everyone.
She is fantastic with our two small children and is very gentle with them.
Murphy loves to be around all of the action in the house and isn’t far from our feet at the kitchen table. When out on walks she can run for hours fetching the ball (she has great recall) but when at home she is fine to be left on her own to relax and is also used to be left for up to 4-6 hours at a time. She will snooze away.
When out on walks, we have a yellow nervous lead for her as she doesn’t like dogs or people she doesn’t know getting too close (as a result of being a lockdown puppy born in 2020) and will bark / pull at the lead in reaction to anyone coming in her own space.
We have just brought our second baby home and Murphy has become a lot more protective and nervous on walks as a result & we are worried her reactive behaviour towards dogs and strangers may get worse and we sadly don’t have as much time as we once did to dedicate to training and making sure her and others are safe. It’s for this reason we are sadly looking to re-home Murphy to a more suitable home, preferably where she has the space to run around and be comfortable around dogs/people she knows and not living on a housing estate where she regularly comes into contact with new dogs on lead walks.
Murphy’s favourite toy is any ball! She has a mild obsession with balls and will fetch them and bring them back to you for hours on end. Having a ball also calms her when meeting new people and dogs we find.
We feed Murphy local high protein food (Skylos) which has no cereal or grain - very high quality! But to be honest, she’ll eat almost anything :)
