Description

Txiki (pronounced Cheeky) is a sweet, gentle 12-year-old Pointer (her date of birth is 25/04/13) with a heart full of love and a story that deserves a happy ending. Txiki’s life before rescue was far from kind. We rescued her in the Basque Country in Spain, from a hunter who no longer wanted her and had tragically planned to shoot her. Thankfully, we reached her just in time. Upon arrival at the kennels, it became clear that something wasn’t right. Despite her age, Txiki was producing milk – and after urgent veterinary care, it was discovered she had been carrying a deceased puppy. She underwent emergency surgery, and thanks to the dedication of the team, Txiki pulled through. Now safe and loved in her foster home in Cornwall, Txiki is ready to find her forever family. This gentle girl has blossomed into a calm, affectionate companion. She adores lounging in the sunshine, going for slow, scenic walks, and snuggling up beside you for a nap or a fuss. Txiki isn’t one for long hikes or noisy adventures – instead, she thrives on peace, comfort, and companionship. Her fosterer, Heather, says “If you’re looking for a loyal little shadow who adores attention and bonds quickly, she’s your girl.” Though she carries a slight limp in her front right leg – likely arthritis, according to her UK vet – it doesn’t dampen her spirits. She still enjoys pottering about and exploring the garden, and her tail wags happily at the mention of a treat or a cuddle. Txiki is impeccably house trained, is happy to be left for short periods, and, out on walks, she’s relaxed and sociable, greeting other dogs with a friendly curiosity. However, at home she enjoys the peace and quiet of being an only dog with her family or she might settle with a calm female dog. After everything she has been through, Txiki truly deserves a retirement full of love, security, and soft blankets. She would suit a quiet household – perhaps someone retired or working from home – who can offer her the companionship she craves and the gentle pace of life she’s come to enjoy. If you have space in your home and heart for a kind, loyal dog with the most soulful eyes and a deeply loving nature, Txiki could be the perfect addition to your life. She’s not just looking for a home – she’s looking for a family to belong to. Come meet Txiki – and give her the peaceful, happy life she’s waited so long for. Some notes from her foster mum …. “So far, she’s slotted in to our routine so quickly, the perfect companion for leisurely wanders, cuddles and little trips in the car. At home she goes to the toilet outside and settles quickly if left alone. “Txiki is full of character and you can’t help but have a huge soft spot for her almost immediately. She’s still keen to play (albeit not for hours on end!) and will happily amuse herself with any games, stuffed kongs etc you give her. “She takes her beauty sleep very seriously, an elite-level snoozer, more often than not clocking in a solid 12-hour shift from 8pm to 8am (despite our protests she must surely need a wee!). We’ll often pop a blanket over her at night, and by morning, she’s still there perfectly wrapped up like Mother Teresa herself, silently judging you for being up so early. “On walks she doesn’t react to other dogs and is happy to say hello to people we meet – they may harbour treats after all. “Ultimately, I appreciate that when you adopt an older dog your time together may not be the longest, but I already know she’ll give any love she receives back 10-fold. She’s a joy!”
