It is with a heavy heart that my partner and I have to write this but unfortunately we are in need of finding a new home for our beloved dog Jet.
Jet is a 2.5 year old mixed breed - The vet suspects he is a Jack Russell X Patterdale terrier, possibly Chihuahua somewhere in there.
We haven’t made this decision lightly but due to personal medical issues my partner and I are at the hospital more regularly leaving Jet alone for longer periods of time than is good for him. He is an anxious dog, and he struggles being left at home alone for any more than an hour really. Jet needs and deserves a family / owners who can be with him most hours of the day. Jet is the sweetest little guy once he becomes comfortable with you. It takes him a little while to settle with new people but is a little magnet stuck to your side in time.
Jet currently lives with 2 cats. He’s calm and gentle with them, tries to play with them but is also happy just in their company. He will sit nicely with them and share treats too- no aggression at all. Jet does however struggle and show fear towards dogs. Whilst out on a walk he will pull, bark and lunge towards another dog. So it is much better if you can walk him somewhere quiet and secluded or you have a large enough garden for him to have the run of and feel safe. He has good recall- he knows his name ‘Jet’ or ‘Jetty’ very well.
Jet LOVES a ball, he will play fetch for hours if you can keep up with him, or a teddy he can chuck about and rag. He knows when to calm down though and also loves to just snuggle with you on the sofa. He is often squished between my partner and I completely conked out. He is great with his food, he will eat pretty much any wet food in gravy or dry kibble. He needs water on his food though as he doesn’t drink much through the day. All treats are good treats, he won’t turn his nose up at anything.
As for the asking price; we have listed him as £200 to filter out any time wasters but if you’ve read this far and are interested in offering Jet his perfect forever home then all we ask for is a donation of £100. We would like to give you his bed, toys and slow feeder bowl to help him settle. Of course once he has adjusted you can change his bed but we would like him to keep his teddy for a comforting familiar scent.
Please no time wasters, this is a difficult enough decision as we love Jet to bits, but we know what would be best for him and unfortunately we just can’t give him that with the uncertainty of what we have going on. Only suitable homes will be considered as we will not be re homing Jet to just anyone. We want the absolute best for him and he deserves it.
