Description
I have 2 hens for sale. One is a Leghorn cross, she lays a nice large green egg despite being a very light-bodied bird. The other is a Salmon Faverolles who lays a brown egg with a pink tinge. The Leghorn cross lays very regularly still - nearly every day. The SF lays regularly but not as often, a few times a week in the summer.
Both are friendly and not aggressive with people, but not completely hand-tame. The Leghorn will squat down immediately if approached once she knows you but is a bit flighty overall. The Salmon Faverolles is typical for her breed, a nosy nelly that likes to be in everyone's business. They are in the middle of their current flock (neither top bird nor bottom of the pile) and should be able to be integrated into a new group assuming slow, careful introductions.
Both are from a flock that has been part of a household with dogs and kids, so assuming approproriate behaviour from all household members they should be able to live with kids and/or dogs again.
They have been wormed recently with a spot-on treatment and were vaccinated as chicks. They are on a standard layer's pellet and doing very well. Never had any health issues from either one, very sturdy healthy birds though due to some intraflock squabbles they are both missing some feathers on their back ends.
One thing to note is that these are LOUD girls. I wouldn't have them in a situation with close-by neighbhours who mind noise - they are not as loud as a cockerel but they are not quiet hens. Both have a voice that carries (the Leghorn in particular), and the Salmon Faverolles loves to chat.
Any other questions please ask. These are well-loved girls so am really looking for the right home for them, I'm not looking for a fast sale.
