About Aspen
Aspen is a bright and affectionate puppy who has already shown real resilience in his short life. Originally abandoned in Cyprus as a puppy, he was found unwell and diagnosed with parvovirus, which is often fatal in young, unvaccinated puppies. Thankfully, after expert care at the vets, Aspen made a full recovery and has since travelled to the UK to a foster home in London where he is adjusting beautifully to life as a companion.
Being deaf, Aspen experiences the world a little differently from most dogs, but this doesn’t hold him back in the slightest. In fact, it means that the usual city sounds that can unsettle many rescue dogs don’t bother him at all. He’s adapted to London life very well and is confident out and about. He’s a curious, energetic young dog who loves his walks, exploring the outdoors and investigating every scent along the way.
Aspen is friendly, trusting and full of character. He loves people and thrives on interaction, enjoying cuddles and attention from anyone who shows him kindness. He’s quick to learn and very food motivated, which makes training sessions fun and rewarding for him. He responds really well to one-to-one training to help build focus and confidence, and he loves nothing more than being told he’s a good boy.
With other dogs, Aspen’s behaviour depends a little on the setting. In his shelter days, he shared space comfortably with other dogs and enjoyed their company. In his current flat, space is limited and this has made things trickier with the resident dog, as they don’t have enough room to relax separately and they’re still navigating an unfamiliar dynamic. Outside the home, however, Aspen is sociable, friendly and non-reactive. In a more spacious environment, he would likely enjoy having another calm dog around for companionship and to help him feel settled when left alone.
Aspen could live as the only dog, but would also do well with a friendly, balanced companion. He’s still learning to share toys and attention but is improving all the time. He’s best suited to a home without cats or small animals, as he’s keen to chase them, and with older children (around eight and above) who understand that he’s still young and in a playful, mouthy stage.
Although Aspen copes well in a busy environment, he would benefit from a home with access to a garden where he can relax and play off lead. He’ll need adopters who are home most of the day and can build up to short periods of time alone, as he’s still developing confidence when left. With the right structure and support, this will continue to improve.
Aspen is a bright, affectionate and resilient young dog with so much potential. He’s already shown how adaptable he is, and with patient, consistent guidance he’ll grow into a wonderful, loyal companion.
