We’re looking for a loving and reptile-curious forever home for our beautiful male tortoise, Fritz Jnr. We got him in 2020 when he was estimated to be around 1 year old, so he’s now 5–6. He’s full of personality, healthy, and easy to care for — a real joy to have around. Fritz loves eating fresh garden weeds like dandelion leaves, mint, and clover, with cucumber being his absolute favourite treat. He also enjoys lamb’s lettuce, pea shoots, spring greens, pepper, grated carrot, and the occasional fruit like strawberries or raspberries. He’s happy basking under his UVB lamp in his indoor tank but loves getting outside when it’s warm — he’s curious, relaxed, and great to watch. He comes with everything needed: a large indoor enclosure/tank, UVB heat lamp, substrate, hideouts, feeding bowls, water dish, and calcium supplements. We’re very sadly rehoming him because I’m due a baby soon, and although he’s low maintenance, I want to focus my attention fully and ensure Fritz gets the care and love he deserves. He is also now at the ideal weight for hibernation, and we’ve used the Jackson Ratio (weight-to-shell-length calculation) to confirm he’s safely within the healthy range. If his new owner wishes to, he could be hibernated between November and March for around 8–10 weeks. We’re asking £150 for Fritz and all his setup — worth well over that — and we’re looking for someone with the time, space, and a genuine interest in tortoises.
