Description

Standard Dachshund (10kg). Spayed, up to date on worming, and in excellent health. Pedigree: Well-bred with a strong lineage (father was a Crufts competitor). Personality: A low-arousal, affectionate "couch potato" and ultimate snuggle buddy. Fully house-trained, quiet in the home, and trained with helpful disengagement cues to relax on her bed. Temperament: A bit cautious and pessimistic when first meeting new people, but once comfortable, she becomes the most loving, loyal shadow. Other dogs: she gets on exceptionally well with my Mums dachshund and 2 of my dogs but sadly my oldest dog and her are not a good match. They've had very sporadic disagreements. Ideal Home & Match Best Fit: A low-traffic, peaceful home ideally with a retired individual or couple wanting a calm companion to lounge with. Children: Good with kids and tolerant, but thrives best in a quiet environment free from high energy. Other Pets: Ideal as an only dog. She could potentially live alongside a very passive, older dog, but any potential match would require a thorough, hands-on assessment. Honest Behavioural Notes On walk reactivity: She is dog-reactive on lead. This is entirely workable with time, consistency, and management and does actually go out well on walks with other dogs when given appropriate time space and introductions..it is fear based behaviour and happens with unfamiliar passing dogs. Very common unfortunately and the reason it hasn't been addressed is a logistical issue for me but it is resolvable with time and commitment. Off Lead: Enjoys walks and has great off-lead manners when exercised in strategically chosen, quiet areas. Sofa Guarding: On rare occasions, she can resource-guard her favourite sofa spot if challenged by an assertive resident dog (this is a non-issue in a single-dog household). She doesnt do this to people. Cats: she will chase them. She doesnt hurt them but the fun is in the chase for her so I'd recommend not for your cats sake. It's a game to her. Free Lifetime Trainer Support Because I am a professional dog trainer, finding the right fit is my top priority. I am rehoming her solely because my current home environment and home-education setup do not offer her the quiet space she craves. I am offering free, ongoing professional guidance to her new owners for as long as needed to ensure a smooth transition and work through her lead reactivity. I need to home check too.

Cons

Not the best choice for first time owners because Dachshunds often have a mind of their own
Care must be taken with puppies because they must not be allowed to jump up or down from anywhere because it could damage their backs and joints
They are prone to putting on too much weight if not given enough daily exercise
