Description

Sadly we are having to re-home our dog, Luna. She is not yet a year old, her mother was a pure border collie and we think her father was a collie/Welsh sheepdog mix. She is super friendly with other people and dogs. She even loves the vet. She also loves children. She is not very collie-like in demeanor, she has some herding instinct but generally more like a lab or similar. She likes to relax for long stretches, outside in the sun or somewhere comfy - she is happy in a crate (but happier on a sofa 🙄). She loves walks (more likely to sniff everything than to charge around) and water like streams. She is motivated by food/treats. She was quite destructive as a puppy but this has stopped now, though still appreciates a chew/treat. Recently had first season and it generally calmed her down a fair bit. We are sadly rehoming her because of how she gets on with our other dog, who is older and much smaller. They often play well but Luna will overpower our other dog during play and especially with high value food items are present. We are concerned around the dynamic with both dogs wishing to be 'alpha'. We think she might be best as the only dog in household, but also may be ok with a more assured older dog who is >20kg. We have also observed that she struggles to relax in our busy household (e.g. during weekends and sch hols), and may benefit from a calmer environment. Needs a secure garden - she will follow her nose and wander away in curiosity. She is intensely interested by smaller creatures so probably not ok in household with cats. House trained, chipped and up-to-date with vaccines etc. Finding the right home is the most important thing for us, we would want to hear about the life you can offer her.
