Rehomed Bonnie 2 years ago as a companion for my husband who had early dementia. He has just gone into residential care , so her world has fallen apart. She was friendly, bouncy and ‘hadn’t got an aggressive bone in her body’. But she is very strong. I can walk her with a Halti but I am 70 and I’m struggling. She needs some training but is very keen to behave . Just the last 2 weeks, she has started snapping at dogs that she has known for ages and has actually pinned one down. There was no injury but I needed help separating them and now people,obviously are wary of her and I’m lead walking her, unless there are no dogs around. Her recall isn’t brilliant. She will usually stand and wait for me, unless she is busy joining in a game of ball on the beach with her newly acquired ‘friends’. I feel ,to have her best life, she needs a younger family who can control her. She loves people, is good with my small grandsons and couldn’t be closer to me at home. She may be trying to protect me, but at the moment, I am protecting her, trying to keep her safe
