In their homeland, they are known as Mountain Dogs and are known for being true gentle giants that are especially good with children of all ages. The BMD is loyal and affectionate by nature and boasts of being one of the most intelligent dogs in the world, which means they are easy to train. The Bernese is an extremely handsome dog with its beautiful tri-coloured coat being one of its distinguishing characteristics.
