Neva Masquerade cats are generally friendly, affectionate, and sociable while maintaining a well-balanced temperament. They are independent but bond strongly with their owners, showing loyalty, patience, and gentleness, especially around children. They tend to be cautious but not aggressive, and they get along well with other pets.
Neva Masquerade cats typically have a long lifespan, often living over 10 to 20 years due to their strong immunity and low incidence of hereditary diseases, although they can be prone to certain heart conditions like hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
The Neva Masquerade is a colourpoint variety of the Siberian cat, combining Siberian and Siamese genes. They share many physical traits such as size and coat type, but Neva Masquerades have striking blue eyes and point coloration influenced by the Siamese breed, along with slightly different temperament nuances.
Neva Masquerade cats shed heavily during the warmer months due to their soft, thick undercoat, despite having a water-resistant semi-long coat. Regular grooming several times a week is necessary to reduce matting and manage shedding.
