DescriptionZeke is just over 2 years old and has had a difficult life so farš
He was rescued as a tiny pup in Romania back in 2022. He then waited almost a year in a small yard before he travelled to the UK. Unfortunately, he found life in a home very scary, he hid up for a few weeks, but then decided his humans were ok. However, the humans he lived with just didnāt takes things slowly enough for Zeke. He was exposed to too much, too soon and this affected his confidence. He became reactive on walks and his adopters were unable to cope. Given that he was also in adolescence he struggled.
He came here to kennels in May 2023. He was incredibly traumatised, having lost the only people he knew, and his homeš He didnāt feel safe and had lost trust in everyone and everything.
Slowly, he realised that no one was going to hurt him, no one was going to make him do anything he found to scary, and he also realised that actually he loved his food and the people who provided itā¦.thatās us, by the way!
After 3 weeks in kennels, he had decompressed enough for us to be able to start working with him and him with usā¤ļø
Over the next few months he started to trust us to keep him safe, he bonded and started enjoying walks and life in general. He was still anxious though and he needs emotional support. He finds traffic difficult to cope with and this is still a work in progress. However, he loves people and other dogs.
We have worked really hard with him, to get him to a place where heās ready for adoption.
So, whatās he like as a characterā¦..? Heās energetic, loves a run, loves to play and loves a massage and fuss. Heās still anxious, but much less so, than he was. He will need to continue with his training, which he loves and helps build his confidence and resilience to things he still finds difficult to cope with.
Being totally honest, he needs a rural home. Town life would be just too stressful for him. He loves being out with his people and pottering around in the garden. He adores his food and point to note, can guard a really high value long lasting treat. So, careful management is needed with those š
Thatās fairly simple though.
He has learned so much during his time here. He knows all basic commands and loves learning new tricks. Any potential adopter will absolutely need to continue his training, build a bond with him and advocate for him, when heās scared.
You will need to come and meet him with all members of your family. Plus, youāll need to learn everything weāve taught himā¦.consistency and commitment is paramount. We want the best home for him and we will expect anyone interested in him to commit to putting the necessary work in to make this happen.
We will spend however long it takes to find him the right home. We will absolutely work with you, to make that happen.
He is the most wonderful, handsome boy and deserves a forever home of his own. So, please get in contact if you can meet all the criteria and are 100% committed to making all Zekes dreams come true.
