Description
We are looking for a loving new home for our beautiful 12 year old Toyger boy, Diego. My husband and I are moving to Malta as volunteers and as much as we would love to take our boy with us, we are concerned that the travel and flight would be too stressful for him. He hates any kind of travel. Additionally it would be an entirely new climate and the possibility of being cooped up in a small apartment. As much as we would love to take him along. We just don’t think it would be what’s best for him. Quite a lot is uncertain for now when we arrive, so we’d prefer for him to have a stable transition into a loving home, that is used to having cats. With our boys personality he just wouldn’t cope very well with being indoors all the time. He currently has an enclosed garden which he loves to sit in - he has never been let outside the yard into the street because we live on a very busy road and we’re worried he may be run over or stolen, given he is so beautiful! - so a space with access to a secure garden for him to explore would be ideal. He loves to play fetch with hair bobbles and ear buds. And on rare and vulnerable moments (usually in the morning) he loves a tummy rub. He has a few favourite toys. He is fairly active and social, but does like to have naps throughout the day. He can be more active at night, but if kept busy during the day he will be tired out and tends to sleep more. He loves being tucked in his blanket in his basket sometimes with an hot water bottle, and while watching tv he would usually come for a cuddle. But it is very much on his terms. Though he is very talkative and follows you around when you’re busy in the house. His diet is dry biscuits, James Wellbeloved. He doesn’t have specific feeding times. We leave food out all the time and he just grazes as he needs it. He must be an only pet, no other dogs or cats as he does not cope well with other animals, he gets very stressed. He would also be best suited to a more mature couple or individual, no small children. And someone who spends most of their time at home, such as those who are retired or working from home. He does not like being left for long periods of time by himself, and thrives on regular attention. It’s important that you been a cat owner before and know about cat behaviours and temperaments. We also always use a pet/ house sitter that stays over when we are away, so he has company all time. He has never been to a cattery so this would not be an option. He has a beautiful brownish/orange coat with distinctive tiger markings and gorgeous green eyes! He is friendly and talkative! Though at times he does like his space, usually nap time. He is in good health, and has regular vet check ups. He does have a luxating patella (knee sometimes pops out) but the vet said that it is common with pedigreed breeds and will not do any harm to him. It has been like that for several years and the vet checks him when he has his check ups. He has quarterly doses of flee/ worm/ ear mite treatments and would definitely need to keep having this. He is fully vaccinated and pedigreed and we have all of his papers. Please get in touch if you have any questions. We are based in Accrington UK. We are in no hurry to re-home him as we are looking for the perfect fit for him someone who will love and cherish him as we have for the last 12 years. We have had him since he was a kitten so this is very hard for us, but we want what will be best for our boy. He was very expensive and he is very loved and so we would only let him go to a home that would meet his needs. If you feel you have the time, space and experience to take him on, please get in touch. We would also be so grateful if you would occasionally send us an update so we know he is ok, settled and happy in his new home. Sending lots of love ❤️ to all The cat moms and dads!
