‘Angel’ because she survived against
all the odds & there is nothing
more perfect than an angel
‘Angel’- how do I even begin to try to do
her justice? Her spirit has survived when
her body was broken & that’s why she’s
out of this world. She is the most angelic &
delicate presence- this fragile soul that
could have been a substantial dog in an
ordinary home- a proper dog- instead
she’s an air of vulnerability & poignant
beauty because she went through
extraordinary cruelty. What Angel endured
was torture metered out to her by
someone who knew exactly what they
were doing- a barbaric & sub-human
malevolence. Angel was garrotted with
haystack wire over a very long period of
time - years potentially & it slowly
embedded into her flesh so that when she
was finally taken to a municipality pound it
had to be surgically removed. I journey
there with what that was - & it only
scratches the surface of a very dark &
distorted mindset. Where I can
comprehend (with the disquiet of all that
she should have known & was denied), isthe ethereal girl in front of me that my
mother called ‘Angel’ because of her aura
& resolve. I can explain as I always try to
the warped culture that she was tragically
born into & why I help dogs like her- and
look for homes such as yours. As a welfare
we can attempt to open up the horrors
they face in a country where the
government policy is to pick them up these
poor neglected & desolate souls & then
once more expose them to risk through
abandonment (again) or bad ‘homes’. But
it’s too long a subject matter & not straight
forward. Instead let me tell you how badly
you need an angel in your life. what better
way to start your day than with this quiet &
tender soul? Wouldn’t you want to share
your morning cuppa outside in the garden
with a mellow & beautiful Angel? She
doesn’t need a lot - a senior at 10yrs
approximately- she just wants a corner or
two of your abode- some warmth &
kindness. It would be lovely if she could
roll on your lawn- she’s never felt grass
beneath her tired body before.
She was kicked or hit so hard it broke a
ligament - and that old injury could do with
a comfy bed & compassion- maybe a
supplement or two- we could all do with
some of those.
Angel is living with other dogs in a
government shelter (at risk) & will
hopefully come to an enclosure with
myself the rescuer ready to find a special
person / family. The senior citizens of the
canine world have just as much to offer as
our elderly folk. They have been there,
done that & written the book.

give you?
Golden oldies do not require the day to day
commitment of some dogs. If you’re at
work for a few hours they will curl up and
wait for you to come home. If you’re thereall day their company is invaluable, like the
hearth in the house.
When someone comes to take a younger
dog these dogs are at the back of the cage
dreaming about a fire to warm them,
hearing a soft voice talking to them rather
than to a puppy. When the people walk
away and their left there again in their
loneliness they’re dreaming about their
special person taking them, to care for
them in their dotage- kindness laughter,
comfort and above all company.
They’re left there month after month and
they are so lonely just like elderly people
who are on their own.
To belong & to be known- at last to be
known for all that we are - it is
EVERYTHING. Please choose Angel so she
can after ten years be known by someone.
