This is my gorgeous little dude, Spoon! He is such a cuddly & sweet doggo, but he also gets quite anxious and his behaviour is going downhill. He’s not happy with us anymore, I had a baby and ruined his life. This is the most awful decision I’ve ever had to make but i want him to have a happy home where he feels loved and centre of attention like he so wants and deserves to be. We used to have a lovely little life together but the dynamics changed massively when my daughter came along, we have struggled on for nearly two years trying to make it work but he got snappy with her last week & we’ve just got to call it a day now. Let me be clear on this though, she was faffing about with him and accidentally poked his eye. So this whole situation is no one’s fault, especially not his. I just have to put my daughter’s safety first and I guess this felt like a warning.
He is in need of someone who has the time and energy to retrain him, i basically just let him do what he wanted (gotta try do better with my kid haha) & of course that has backfired. He did used to walk alongside me off lead but if he’s off lead nowadays he just buggers off. He can be reactive to dogs, although this has only been if they approach my toddler. He resource guards and is very moody after 10pm which is his bedtime. Just trying to give an honest picture of what Spoon is like & generally he is wonderful but like the rest of us he does have his flaws.
His favourite game is tug, it’s basically all he wants to do. He has treat dispensers which we’d love for you to keep for him. Sometimes he likes his space but his ideal place is being a foot warmer under a duvet, either that or he will curl up on your pillow with his butt right in your face haha. He loves walks on the beach, super long grass & for some reason… windy or frosty days. He is a Yorkie mix, I have his full DNA test if you’d like the report as I was curious (he was sold to me as a full Yorkie but he was so curly I thought he was a poodle!)
Ideally his new forever home would be free from young kids (unless they are old enough to explain tp them not to wind him up) and other dogs, but cats are fine.
Any other questions please ask! I can’t promise I won’t be very emotional at a handover but I’ll do my best to rein it in for his sake.
Hopefully we find a peaceful place for Spoon to be his best self!
