Description
Due to no fault of his own we have had to make the difficult decision to rehome our Sprocker spaniel.
Originally we rehomed Milo from family members when we moved into a new home, they simply did not have enough time for his energy levels, we thought we could manage with the dog and did for a while (got him in routine, trained bad habits out of him using positive reinforcement, met his exercise needs etc) until my partner had to take a different job which means he is out the house from Sunday night until Friday night each week leaving me with Milo and a 3 year old so unable to walk/exercise him to the level he needs which is leading to not suitable behaviour at home (stealing toys, shoes, socks anything he can find and then becoming possessive over items)
He is not an aggressive dog at all but does things out of boredom, he thrives off routine and being walked, when his energy and exercise levels are met he shows no unacceptable behaviour and is a very good dog.
Overall he is very loving, loves a cuddle and a fuss.
He is toilet trained and crate trained, he sleeps in the crate on a night and is happy to go in his crate for owner meal times. We really tried our best to make this work but the dog deserves someone who has time which initially was us until our change of circumstances. We took the dog on as we didn’t want him rehomed to anybody and knew we could meet his needs, again until the change of circumstances.
It’s taken a lot of time to come to this decision as we didn’t want to fail the dog but he absolutely needs someone who can meet exercise demands so he thrives.
He does pull on the lead but we have managed to reduce this significantly using a short lead and positive reinforcement. He does recall, he is friendly with other dogs and loves to play with them on walks etc, he is well socialised. He also likes kids, I’ve never had an issue with him and my toddler.
I do think he is best in a no dog no children household due to the possessiveness over his space but with correct introductions and social interaction, along with his needs being met I think this could be evaluated with the right responsible owner.
We are only asking for a small fee to ensure he goes to a home that wants him for the right reasons, we have a crate, pet treats, pet food, hairbrush, dog shampoo, toys, bed, blanket etc that we will also provide with.
