Description
Gracie (DOB 15/11/15) medium sized approx 22-22 kilos and in foster in Ayr, Scotland. Gracie is the happiest most loving dog you will ever meet. She loves everyone she meets from the second she meets them and is usually in her back within 5 seconds wanting tummy tickles ... Gracie came into rescue as a pup with her two sisters Babe and Dolly. She was adopted fairly quickly along with one of her siblings, but through no fault of her own returned about 3 years later after a relationship breakdown where no one was in a position to take both dogs. Upon their return it became very clear that neither dog had been socialised during this time and further investigations revealed that as both dogs had been reactive on the leads as pups their owners had just avoided any contact with other dogs rather than working to resolve their issues. Dolly was rehomed by an amazing couple who worked very hard to make her into a fantastic dog friendly dog, but sadly Gracie was not so lucky. She was in rescue for quite some time (living happily with a group of dogs after careful introductions) before eventually being adopted by what seemed at the time to be a perfect family. Luck was not on Gracie's side yet again though, when she was once again returned to rescue because of alleged dog reactivity problems and a behaviourist who had said she could never live with another dog. Before we bought Gracie back into rescue this time through, she was sent away on a residential training / assessment course where the trainers confirmed our belief that with correct introductions and an experienced owner Gracie can indeed be the most amazing dog in the world. Within two days of being back in rescue Gracie was living in the main house with 5 other dogs she had never met before. She is a very submissive dog, who will react to other dogs in order to get them to stay away from her, but once she has been introduced properly she is the most playful dog you could wish to meet. Since moving to our new site, Gracie no longer lives in the house as we don’t have the facility to have smaller groups here and she would be very stressed living with the number of dogs we have indoors. She now lives in our fabulous converted workshop with her two best pals Muffin and Rupert and spends her days chasing and playing with the boys. You could not meet a more amazing dog than Gracie. She LOVES people and so deserves her chance to finally have a family that will work with her to overcome her fears ... She would suit many different homes, but we would like to see her in a more rural location with adult owners who will give her the time and space she needs to reach her full potential regarding her dog relationships. She also requires a cat/small furry free home. If you think you can offer Gracie her forever home please pop onto our website at www.savingandrehomingstrays.org and complete an application form. Please note a home check and adoption donation will apply x
