Description

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY LAB x LURCHER x TERRIER x GREYHOUND It’s is heart breaking to have to put Peggy up for rehoming, however I have had a change in circumstance and she deserves the best home possible. Please read below and consider carefully. Peggy is a 2yr old pup looking for her forever home. Born April 2023. Peggy was rehomed as a family dog however due to a change in circumstances, Peggy is looking to be rehomed. Not a lot is known about her history however it is believed that she was left in a cage for long periods of time and let out short periods of time. This has resulted in her becoming anxious when being left alone. I was however, advised to put her into a crate for nipping out as she may jump up at walls and doors etc. However, the one time I did to drop my little boy at nursery she was extremely distressed. Including howling, barking, biting at the crate and ripping her bed up. I had to get someone nearby to leave work to let her out and sit with her until I got back. She follows me around a lot and most of the time is happy to lay on the sofa. HOWEVER, she needs a home who has the time to take her out for long walks and to a secure paddock where she is able to run free as this is what she has been used to. She has not been used to being on a lead by the previous owner so she is quite strong and pulls strongly if she sees a cat out on a walk. She has been used to being free off a lead to chase squirrels. I would ensure she is let off in a secure paddock until her recall is 100% and she is used to you as well as taking the time to train her to walk on the lead for another form of exercise. She listens when she is told to sit and lay down , but she needs someone who will take time to teach her some boundaries as she does like to come and sleep on my bed. She seems ok with other dogs but on the lead can get a bit excited which can make smaller dogs and maybe owners think she is going to be aggressive. She definitely needs a garden and high fences and a gate to run around in and not escape. She sometimes growls at strangers who come to stroke her or get in her personal space and barks, maybe a muzzle might be suited to prevent strangers coming up to her and scaring her. She has never bitten anyone and I don’t think she would, however with every dog you rehome , you do not know their full background and what triggers them etc. She is currently living with my 17 month old baby who is still crawling. As from the photos, she is amazing with him. Peggy has not growled, mouthed, bitten, barked or gotten too much around my little boy. She lets him stroke her and cuddle her. She is a bit of a licker and does enjoy licking him which he finds hilarious and she will lick around your house sometimes too. She can when new people come into the house or visitors have a bit of a bark and growl but her tail always wags so I think it’s over excitement. Once she has been petted and given fuss to from them she immediately stops. When she gets over excited her tail wags a lot and bless my little boy has been whacked once or twice by it so something to bear in mind if you have children! She has never mouthed to my little boy but with me when I fuss her a lot and she enjoys it she has out her mouth over my wrist but never bitten or closed her mouth. She’s just a pup who loves a fuss and attention! She is slightly underweight due to previously not being fed properly so will need her weight to get back up which I have been trying to do. She is a lovely pup who is looking for someone who has time and experience of owning dogs. She will need a lot of exercise and cannot be left for long periods alone at the start but I’m sure with the right owner and time she will get there! She can be homed with other dogs as she was with one before I had her and very much enjoyed that company. Not to be rehomed with cats but children probably best teenagers. Please message if you’re interested or have any questions and I’ll try my best to answer. She’s honestly the most caring dog who wants to be with her owner most of the time so maybe more suitable to someone who works from home or is semi retired and will have the time to train and give her the exercise she needs. No £ is wanted for her but it’s important that she goes to the right home. I am heartbroken that I can’t give her that anymore. I was not fully aware of how she would be with leaving her and on the lead etc so I have been as honest as I can on this advert as I would hate for her to go to another home where she has been slightly misunderstood about her needs.
