Meet Hendricks, a handsome 2 year old believed to be American bulldog who was on Red Alert at the Pound 🚨 He is a large sized boy with a happy go lucky nature and he’d love to find his forever family 💚
Hendricks came into the care of PPTF in May after he sadly found himself in the Pound and was due to be PTS
We unfortunately know nothing of his life prior to this time but he spent some time with a foster family before moving to kennels in June 🏡
Hendricks is a big, friendly boy who loves a fuss but he is super strong so think cuddle monster/powerhouse!
His new home will have to have the time and experience to work with him regarding his manners He is keen to learn and picked up basic commands while in his foster home What he needs now is a dedicated home to give him some much needed stability and direction so that he can flourish 💚
Hendricks enjoys the company of other, similarly sized dogs and can therefore live with other neutered/spayed dogs He has a strong prey drive so he absolutely cannot live with cats or other small furries An adult only home would be best for him due to his size and strength 💪🏼
He is also a known escape artist as he can open doors so locked doors and secure garden boundaries are a must! 🔐
The volunteers who regularly visit Hendricks walk him and take him to the park which he loves 🥰 They report he is very powerful on the lead so experience of large breeds is required as is a serious commitment to further training so Hendricks can become the very best version of himself 💚
He is a young dog with lots of energy so would be compatible with an active household who could facilitate lots of outdoor and mentally stimulating activities for him 🐾
Whilst in his foster home Hendricks was reported to be toilet trained but not crate trained As he is now staying in kennels he might need some time to adjust to a new environment 🏡 He always slept well overnight and has travelled well in the car 🚗
Separation anxiety is very common amongst dogs who have been in the Pound and Hendricks’ foster Mum was around most of the day so it is felt that this would be beneficial for him in a new home At least until he adjusts and settles in with his family 🥰
Hendricks is vaccinated and microchipped but he is not neutered at present (PPTF will cover the cost of neutering)
