Description
Freya is a 14 year old Toyger female. We are no longer able to care for her as we have a Labrador with mast cell cancer who is very ill and we have also been given notice by our landlord so it is a very difficult time. Freya has been with our family ever since she was a kitten. She is a gentle and slightly timid cat who prefers a calm environment. Although we have a cat flap she rarely ventures out into the garden and prefers to lives indoors. She uses a litter tray but when she is stressed she sometimes has accidents so it is important for her to be in a household who can live with this. If you have cream carpets that Freya will be allowed access to and you would be upset by her occasional accidents you would probably not want to adopt her. Freya has always lived with animals - she would be fine with and enjoy the company of calm older dogs - however our Labrador is rather boisterous and she does not like this. Freya has a high need for human connection and warmth. She will often want to curl up on the sofa next to you or on your bed (if she is allowed). She likes to find spots in the house that are cosy (like next to a radiator) and she likes sitting on windowsills and watching the birds in the trees outside. She enjoys exploring cardboard boxes and making a nest in them. She has lived with cats in the past and is happy to do do, however she would be unhappy with a dominant type of cat as they would bully her and she is not very good at standing up for herself. She is a big foodie and if she can consume human food she will. Conversely she sometimes turns up her nose at cat food, so you could say she is a discerning connoisseur who has realised that we humans each much better food than cats, and she considers it rather unfair that we do so. I think the ideal household for Freya would be a calm, retired individual or couple who were not too house proud but very loving and patient with regard to her occasional accidents. She is obviously an older lady herself so really she is looking for peace, calm and company. She would be stressed if she was in a busy family home with boisterous children, loud, barking dogs and other cats who were intent on taking the top spot. We are hoping to rehome Freya to a loving individual or couple who will care for her in her twilight years, without her having to be rehomed again.
