We have welcomed the next generation of our strain of whippet x miniature poodle lurcher, and have one black boy, one brindle boy and one white & brindle boy still unreserved. There is evidence of the sighthound x poodle being one of the first types of lurcher back as far as the 12th century. Our puppies have been specifically bred to have the elegant good looks of the whippet combined with the high intelligence, ease of training and eagerness to please of the poodle. Their progress can be followed on my facebook page - Elaine Celticmoon Day - where you will be able to see how our dogs and puppies live their lives.
OUR PUPPIES are born and raised in our home and get to know our adult dogs, cat, donkeys and hens. We use a proven programme of socialisation and habituation to ensure our puppies grow into happy and confident adults. They excel at sports such as agility and flyball but make wonderful family members too, and our emphasis when breeding is to produce puppies with robust health, excellent temperaments and gorgeous good looks. The dam of the litter is a show line, Kennel Club registered whippet who is DNA health tested clear for degenerative myelopathy, glycogen storage disease VII, hyperuricosuria and muscular dystrophy. The sire of the litter is a Kennel Club registered miniature poodle who is DNA health tested clear for progressive retinal atrophy, degenerative myelopathy, gangliosidosis, neonatal encephalopathy, osteochondrodysplasia and von Willebrands type 1. Both parents adhere to the Kennel Club breed standard and are both much loved family members with wondeful temperaments.
We are using a relatively new vaccine, Versican Plus, which means our puppies are inoculated at six and nine weeks and have full coverage from the day they leave us, meaning they can go out and about without missing out on their socialisation education.
Our puppies are recall trained meaning they will come back when called, have been taught bite inhibition so they won't nip and bite as puppies, know simple commands and have a fundamental understanding of housetraining. They understand dog body language, being part of a large pack, and are handled daily.
OUR NEW OWNERS GET copies of both parents' Kennel Club pedigrees and DNA health certificates, their puppy's inoculation certificate, microchip details in their name and five weeks' Kennel Club insurance. Puppies leave us with enough premium wet and dry food for the first couple of weeks with vouchers, a bottle of our water to aid transition, collar & lead, toys, scent blanket, our extensive breed and training notes and a contract of sale which incorporates a 28 day health and temperament money back guarantee. We offer lifetime support and will always take a dog back at any time should an owner's circumstances ever change.
ABOUT ME - I am a caring, ethical and professional breeder who has been breeding and showing lurchers and sighthounds since the early 1970s. I have shown my whippets and deerhounds throughout the UK at Championship level with one of my hounds becoming lifetime qualified for Crufts. I am a qualified pet dog trainer and behaviourist (retired!) and have had many articles printed in canine specialist publications. I only breed my own strain of little lurcher and pedigree show quality whippets, rather than having multiple breeds. I am a licenced breeder and comply with strict welfare laws, with all of my dogs undergoing health checks annually.
