Description
We are looking for the most special home for our beloved 3 year-old Dachshund Willow. She will not be going to your average home, she has needs and unless every single one is met, please don’t enquire.
This is an incredibly difficult decision for us. Willow is truly our world, our baby, and we love her more than anything. Unfortunately, we are relocating to Australia for work purposes, and after speaking with vets for the past 6 months and trying rounds of medications, we’ve been advised that due to her anxiety, the long flight could pose a serious risk to her wellbeing. Her safety has to come first, even though it breaks our hearts.
Willow was rescued from a breeder by us, and she suffered a lot of abuse and trauma. We have spent 3 years working on this and relaxing her, she is besotted by me and my partner and her forever home family will need to be willing to be resilient and work with her needs, and us.
Willow is a sweet, loyal, and deeply loving little dog who thrives on being close to her person once the bond is formed. She is my bestfriend.
She would do best in a home where she can be the centre of attention and part of daily life.
She absolutely adores cuddles, loves to curl up with you, and will happily share your bed, she wouldn’t have it any other way. She also loves nothing more than getting cozy under a blanket and snuggling up close. If you enjoy an afternoon nap, she will happily curl up beside you and sleep until you wake.
She loves her walks, but like many dachshunds, she refuses to go out in the rain, instead she’s very happy having indoor playtime with her toys.
Willow is naturally protective of her home and will bark a lot when people enter. While she has never bitten, she is anxious and reactive, she may run toward someone to bark and then run away, and can be protective over her toys. Other than her barking, she truly is the most perfect little girl once you develop that bond.
She is massively reactive toward children and cats and this needs to be taken hugely into consideration of the lifestyle you may have. Men also trigger her hugely, so a calmer home would suit her, and with a male who understands she will take a while to come round and can be very scared/ barky towards them. Preferably a male that is kind and gentle and has the patience.
We are looking for a calm, loving home, ideally with someone who has experience with anxious dogs or is willing to work with her for months and give her the secure environment she needs. Willow is not your average sausage dog who will warm up straight away. She has had many accidents in the past when meeting people because she gets so frightened.
We would also require her new family to stay in touch with us. Being on the other side of the world, it would mean everything to us to receive occasional updates and photos, just so we know she is safe, settling in, and happy, especially as we understand it may take her some time to adjust.
This decision has not been made lightly, and we will only consider homes that we truly feel are the perfect fit for her.
If you think you could give Willow the loving, safe home she deserves, please get in touch.
