Lovely female Dachshund looking for a new, suitable home. We adopted her from family in November, but unfortunately she is not coping well in our environment in a flat with a toddler. She struggles with separation anxiety and becomes very distressed when left alone, which leads to whining and pacing. She has also shown some fear-based reactivity and has snapped when frightened, so she MUST go to an adult-only, experienced home. With training, support and a lot of love she will thrive. She is a loving dog and great with my toddler but I can’t risk any unpredictable snapping.
She is affectionate, enjoys attention, and loves cuddles. She will thrive with someone who is around most of the time and confident with anxious or reactive dogs. She would suit someone with experience in training and understanding canine behaviour. I have 2 cats here aswell that don’t get along with her (she is more scared of them) but may get along with other animals if introduced properly. In last home she lived with another dachshund, and can get along with other dogs if introduced properly. She is just a nervous dog in general.
She is up to date with vaccinations, and has no known medical issues.
This is a very difficult decision and we want the best possible match for her long-term wellbeing. We have not had her long and feel dreadful to have to do this, so Only enquire if you can provide a calm, stable, child-free home where her anxiety and training needs will be understood and supported.
