Description
Winter Merrylegs
6 year old Dartmoor hill mare
Stocky 13 hands. Leg in each corner type.
Not spooky. Used to farm machinery, farm animals including pigs, dogs running through her legs, small children. Completely unfazed by weather, wind etc, has been hacked out in the dark during the winter months, bombproof on the road, seen everything from fire engines to double-decker busses. Can be ridden straight from the field, never needs lunging before you ride.
Been to beach rides, xc hire, local competitions, flat and jump clinics, arena hires, fun rides, hacks alone or in company
Pops a 60cm course. Could possibly go higher with a smaller jockey but no world beater
Sensitive to the leg and forward going. Snaffle mouthed. Sensible head on her shoulders. Very safe and sound. Never bucked or reared and can sit on knowing she won't try to throw you off. However will try it on with new riders and get a bit quick, not bolting but just very forward, she's very easy to circle round and bring back and is perfect once she knows you won't let her get away with it.
Like a dope on a rope on the ground, will follow you anywhere. Exceptional ground manners. Will stand to be tied in the yard or trailer all day. Used to busy show environments with lots of other horses, never fazed and always well behaved. Stands for the farrier and vet. Up to date with vaccinations. Lives in or out on her own or in a herd, currently out in the day and in at night with other mares and geldings.
Loves to be fussed and groomed. Frequently handled by small children.
Does have a small lump on her head below her ear but it does not affect her day to day life, ridden work or how she wears a bridle in any way. It has been checked by 2 separate vets and been given the all clear. Further details can be given to those interested.
Would suit a small teenager or competent child that's not scared of a speedy pony, even her walk is quick! Not for a beginner or really young child as she doesn't like flapping and screaming on top of her. Personally I think she'd make a cracking hunting pony, I'm gutted that I won't be able to take her out myself this coming season.
Will be very sad to see her go, 5 ⭐ home only. Will come with saddle and rugs.
