Description

Hello everyone! We have a very beautiful girl available for adoption called Lola. She is 7 years old, spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and treated against internal/external parasites. She is a Cocker Spaniel, currently in foster care in St Leonards, East Sussex. Lola is NOT an easy dog, so please read her adoption requirements carefully. We need a super special person to offer this girl a wonderful forever home. Wonderful qualities: - Lola will be very friendly and loyal once she gets to know you, however at first she may appear apprehensive - she is super active, would make a fantastic hiking/long walks/adventures buddy, her recall off the lead is great, responds well to treats and her name; walking on the lead is work in progress – she is mostly fine, but may try her luck at pulling with a new handler. She loves walks in the woods, she loves to play in the water, she also appreciates street walks - Lola travels well in the car, she is clean in the house, happy to be crated, happy to wear a muzzle - Lola knows basic commands and is truly a people pleaser; loves to wag her tail, loves toys, loves belly rubs and head scratches and has the softest eye contact in the company of people she is comfortable with Drawbacks: - Lola can be temperamental with dogs – she will either like them or not. Pushy/playful/overly friendly puppies are a huge no as Lola will not be shy of using her teeth to make them go away. She plays beautifully with her friends as they understand her type of playing and will happily engage - she can be possessive over certain items if she has stolen them off the counter for example - Lola is prey driven towards wild animals or smaller pets - she suffers with separation anxiety (whining, howling) so this is work in progress - Lola can be vocal (doorbell, voices/people/dogs that she is not familiar with) - she has a VERY sensitive tummy but does well on the food she is on now – if given a different type of food, she may have accidents in the house The reason Lola ended up in rescue is her unpredictability around dogs and possessiveness, which has the potential to send her into a “Cocker rage”. She has been extremely responsive to training in foster care and we are confident she can be a FANTASTIC dog for the right person, who is happy to keep up with her training, manage her behaviours and love her for who she is as she really tries hard to be a good dog. For every difficulty Lola presents, the foster home has a pre-established management plan which is safe and easy to follow by a potential new owner. This can be openly discussed and worked on to suit the new forever home environment. Lola is an extraordinary dog, has loads of fun doing mad zoomies in the woods with her best pals every day, having cuddles and belly rubs, throwing toys about and relaxing indoors on horrible rainy days. Her foster family loves her very much and are determined to find her the very best forever home. For the right person, she can be a fantastic companion and we’re hoping someone will open their heart and home to this wonderful girl. LOLA'S IDEAL FOREVER HOME: - active adult only household - patient, understanding, committed, experienced owners, familiar with anxious dogs, must be happy to use crate and muzzle for safety reasons when needed (vet appointments, grooming sessions etc) - training experience and general dog behaviour knowledge would be ideal as Lola does have a bite history towards people/dogs in her previous home - Lola must be the only pet, unless we can find an owner with a passion for Spaniels who owns a group and is happy to welcome Lola within the family too - detached (countryside) house preferably but we can consider other options ADOPTION FEE + ADOPTION CONTRACT + HOME CHECK APPLY. Although Lola lives in St Leonards right now, we will consider applications from anywhere within the UK as we are able to arrange transport if the perfect home is found. If you would like to adopt Lola, please send us a message with a paragraph including details about yourself as well as why you think she would be a perfect companion for you. PLEASE KNOW WE WILL ONLY REPLY TO SUITABLE, SERIOUS APPLICATIONS. Thank you for reading. ❤️
