Description
Unfortunately we are having to rehome our boy, Panda. I won't sugar-coat and say that it is not his fault. We have had Panda for 3 years now and have seen aggression issues from him. He has attacked a friends male akita, bitten a friend, tried to attack a stranger outside, is aggressive towards strangers in the house and has recently bitten my 4 year old son. We have tried a lot over the years to manage his aggression and I no longer feel it is safe to have him in the house around our children. Our son has some potential special needs issues, due to this, he is very high energy and Panda has recently started to show obvious dislike towards it. I have contacted rescues up and down the country to try and find him somewhere, but due to his bite history, understandably, none can take him. After speaking to our vet, they recommended euthanazia. We have thought about it long and hard but we want to exhaust ALL of our options first in finding the the right home for Panda before making that decision. It is a big risk to rehome him given his issues but Panda also has his good sides. Once Panda has gotten to know someone and bonded with them, he acts like a giant Teddy bear. He loves to cuddle, gives lots of kisses and loves interaction with his owners. He is protective over those he bonds with and surprisingly, does make you feel safe. Minus the aggressions towards others, he is the sweetest boy once he gains a trusting relationship with you. He'll get excited and run around in circles when you come home, or he'll jump on you for a hug. He is good with basic commands but sometimes his excitement will get the best of him. As you can see from one of his photos, he loves to sit on the sofa and watch TV, he does it quite often. Panda needs a dominant owner that is patient and willing to work with him. They also need to know a lot about the breed. He wouldn't be able to go to a home with young children, only teenagers and up. Panda does currently live with our female shepkita, which shows that he can live with another dog as long as its female and they've had a few controlled meetings. If said female is a confident dog, he'll submit to her almost instantly, women are his weakness. I understand the risks of putting him on here, but unless we can find him a home within the next few weeks, he will be euthanized. He's only 3 and has a good, long life ahead of him with the right family. I want to try and give him a future. LET ME REITERATE; PANDA WILL NOT GO TO A HOME WITH YOUNG CHILDREN!! YOU ARE PUTTING YOUR CHILD, YOURSELF, AND PANDA AT RISK!! HE IS ALSO NOT AVAILABLE TO COLLECT RIGHT AFTER A QUICK PHONECALL. IN ORDER FOR YOU TO ADOPT PANDA, YOU MUST HAVE MULTIPLE MEETINGS IN ORDER TO BUILD TRUST WITH HIM. WE WOULD ALSO HAVE TO CHECK THAT YOUR HOME IS SUITABLE. WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT PANDA GOES TO THE RIGHT PERSON/PERSONS
