Description

We are having to rehome our 8 month old puppy. His name is Marley and he is a lovely pup we have cared for since 8 weeks old. However Marley and our 6 year old Frenchie are just not getting along. About Marley; Most recent weight (start of Nov)-35kg We think Marley has a chicken allergy unfortunately it could not be tested (the vet said he is too young to test he needs to be 1 yr) His diet- he currently eats AVA sensitive skin & stomach dry food twice a day he usually gets through one 15kg bag and a small 2kg bag a month. This was the only food he agreed with we tried wet food and lost of other brands of kibble and this is the only one that agreed with him. Cannot live in a house with a cat he will just chase it! Marley is crate trained infacts loves sleeping in there it’s also where he goes to enjoy his treats away from Arlo. He knows where to go when you say “bed” and will happily sleep in there. Marley needs a big garden and someone who has more time for him with training. Marley goes on a walk once a day he lives going through the woods. Marley does not have any lead manners and he is a strong dog so please bear this in mind. We tend to have him off lead in the woods he tends to stay near us and will comeback to us if we need to put him on lead when other people are nearby as he will run up to them (just because he wants to say hi) but as you can imagine not everyone wants to say hi and not every dog wants to either. More information about the problems; As you can see from the pictures Marley and our other dog Arlo are able to be in the same room and can have cuddles however it’s isn’t like that majority of the time. Marley is great with other dogs even outside of the house he just wants to play! However he can be quite food/toy guarding. I have managed to get Marley to a point where he and my other dog are able to eat their meals next to each other without Marley going for Arlo but no treats or toys can be given to the dogs infront of each other. My other dog Arlo will just want to play with Marley so it will start of by playing with the toy and as soon as Marley wants it and no longer wants to play it does turn aggressive and results in them having a fight. Marley can also be quite jealous. If Marley is laid on his bed and our other dog Arlo comes to sit on our lap Marley will come over and push Arlo off. I’m unsure if Marley just needs a dog that is younger and can tell him off a bit more. Due to Arlo being a lot smaller than him and he is much older so can’t play as much or for as long so does get fed up! Or if Marley would be better off being by himself. The few occasions Marley has been alone we found him much calmer and was able to play with us with his toys. Please take this into consideration if you do have a dog/dog's. He is also a large dog and still has lots of growing to do! He is very unaware of his size. He jumps up as you come in the door he will jump on you on the sofa or even just walk into you! Marley is crate trained at night, unfortunately if no one is in the house (not very often for us) we do have to put him in the cage whilst we out out as he has ripped up our kitchen floor and nibbled at our cupboards too. I do think this is just his puppy stage and teething but we can’t leave the dogs any toys or enrichment out together due to Marley’s guarding so our only solution was to leave him in his crate if no one was home. He is good with children we have a 5 year old who Marley adores however if you have children please bear in mind Marley’s clumsiness. Marley tends to be more gentle with the younger children but there has been times he has jumped at him when saying hello. Overall Marley is a lovely dog that wants to play be loyal and have a good snuggle. Please please only contact me if you are willing to give Marley all the love and time that he deserves as we love him to pieces and wish we could make it work however our other dog just can’t keep up with Marley and I think he’s just a bit fed up!
