DescriptionHere we have the super handsome Ace who is in foster looking for his forever home. He travelled over from Croatia where he had been in the shelter for a long time ignored probably because of his size and colour but wow they have been missing out on a fantastic dog.
He has no known medical conditions.
Ace is a super confident big friendly guy.. who loves attention from anyone. He loves his toys & especially toys he can interact with a person or another dog. He's completely dog friendly, he just needs to understand that not all dogs want to play with him.
Needs to learn a few manners around lesser dogs as he doesn't realise how big & daft he can be
Ace is a real foody. Will try hard for rewards. Knows his basic commands such as sit, down, paw & high 5. He can be a little dominant around other dogs whilst they are eating & tries to pressurise other dogs to get at their dinner. So separate areas for feeding is required at times. Also Ace wolf's his food down so a slow feeder bowl is recommended. However he's polite at accepting treats. Can be a little beggy when adults are eating, but is learning.
Minor destruction.. his own toys.. cardboard plastic containers.
Never been left on his own. However happy to leave him unattended downstairs with resident dog for a couple of hours with no issues. Has been left for up to 4-5 hours in the kitchen with resident dogs again no issues apart from a bit of cardboard or his toys chewed
Likes Cats? No
Ace is Ace.. he's a big bundle of fun & energy. He's quite bouncy & needs telling occasionally that the couches are not for bouncing all over. But he's learning quickly how to be.
He does still have some puppyish traits & will mouth & nip for attention.
Ace loves his toys especially tug rope toys & enjoys a game of fetch.
Energy Level Moderate energy
Obedience Hard to say
On the lead Is ok but needs training
He needs work on his recall & will occasionally run over to unknown dogs but he just wants to play. He's not got an aggressive bone in his body & he learns quickly if the other dog in question reacts negatively that it doesn't wish to interact.
Ace loves a good game of chase & will hunt & chase squirrels trying to bark them out of the trees.
Ace walks lovely on a harness I'd say he its actually prancing than walking. His only downfall is he is lead reactive when is sees other dogs & will be vocal. But this is due to excitement & frustration as he just wants to play.
Tries his hardest to learn especially when treats & toys are involved & learns quickly
Settles well around 9.30 in the kitchen on his bed with the other resident dogs.
Enjoys being groomed & making a fuss off.
Has an inquisitive nature & loves to explore new areas & smells
Sensible around water, lakes etc.. will paddle but only go in up to his waist.
The ideal person/s for Ace would be someone who loves going for longs walks. Ace loves children but doesn't realise that mouthing & nipping can scare kids so therefore I'd recommend a home with sensible children of 12+
Ace would love someone who can continue his training as he is quick to learn or ideally with another well rounded dog/s of similar size to teach him the ropes.
