I’m sadly looking to rehome my boy due to being pregnant — it’s nothing to do with him, he’s a lovely dog, I just can’t keep up with the level of attention and exercise he needs right now. ❗️important info at bottom❗️
He’s an outdoorsy lad who loves running around in safe, enclosed spaces. He’s good with cats, and he’s good with dogs too — he just needs a bit of lead work around them because he gets himself a bit over-excited when he sees another dog on walks. Off-lead he plays really nicely, especially with dogs his own size, though he has a few Frenchie buddies too.
He’s toy-obsessed: ropes, teddies, balls — if it squeaks or he can tug it, he’s happy. He loves butcher bones as a special treat. Food-wise he can be a bit picky and won’t eat dry food unless it’s mixed with wet food, and sometimes he’ll turn his nose up if he doesn’t like the brand.
He knows all his commands (sit, down, spin, over, paw, other paw, high five, “in” for his crate, “get your toy/bone,” “dinner,” and he’s working on “side”), but sometimes you have to repeat yourself because he gets excited. He pulls a bit on lead too, just out of enthusiasm, so he’d benefit from someone who can work with him on that.
He’s lived with rats before and was incredibly gentle with them — even when they escaped the cage he just ignored them until I scooped them up. He’s also really good at greeting people; he might jump up at first, but if you put your hand out and say “down,” he listens.
He likes having his crate as his own little safe space, especially to take a fresh butcher bone into, but he doesn’t like being locked inside it. He can have a bit of separation anxiety when left home alone, but it’s been improving, especially since having the cat around for company.
He sleeps in the bed and absolutely loves going under the covers — he’ll gently paw at the blanket to ask you to lift it for him. He’s very cuddly, very affectionate, and loves everyone he meets.
When he’s eating or has a fresh bone, he may give a bark or a little warning if another animal tries to take it (he’s especially dramatic if the cat tries!), but he never snaps or bites — it’s just him saying, “Hey, that’s mine.” Once the bone is older and dried out, he doesn’t guard it anymore.
Overall, he’s a brilliant, friendly, loving dog who just needs someone with the time and energy to give him the walks, attention, and fun he deserves. He really is a good boy, and this is a heartbreaking decision — he’s only being rehomed because I can’t give him the lifestyle he needs while pregnant. He’ll make someone an amazing companion.
❗️I’d preferably like him to go to someone who has an enclosed garden, a car and no kids under 12 as he’s a big hyper dog. He needs someone who can keep up with him and walk him multiple times a day, long walks. ❗️
