Looking for the Right Home
Douglas is a lovely, lively little boy full of energy and personality. He’s being rehomed through no fault of his own - unfortunately, our female Mini Dachshund has not accepted him and the situation has become unfair on them both.
Douglas is a high-energy dog who thrives on attention, activity, and interaction. He would suit an active home that can give him the time, structure, and continued training he needs to flourish.
He has lived with children and has always been gentle and well-behaved around them.
He is very playful and sociable with other dogs and would likely do best in a home with another dog who can match his energetic nature. He has never shown aggression or resource guarding, though he can be quite excitable and reactive when he wants to play.
Douglas is a vocal boy and will need ongoing training and patience in this area. He currently has little recall and is a bit of an escape artist, so a secure, well-fenced garden is essential, along with careful supervision when outdoors.
He is crate trained and can be left alone for a few hours, but like many young dogs, he can be mischievous if left unsupervised and will get into things- so structure and management are important.
Despite his quirks, Douglas is a happy, healthy boy with a big heart and lots of love to give. He’s a bit of a goofy character who will make a wonderful companion in the right home.
This is a very reluctant rehoming, and we are committed to finding him a safe, loving environment where he will be properly cared for and understood. A 5* home is essential.
He has also been spade and is uptodate with all vet checks, vaccinations and flee/worming

Cons
Not the best choice for first time owners because Dachshunds often have a mind of their own
Care must be taken with puppies because they must not be allowed to jump up or down from anywhere because it could damage their backs and joints
They are prone to putting on too much weight if not given enough daily exercise
