Description
Due to a decline in health and following major surgery, I am no longer able to keep my 5 year old Olde English Bulldog, Martha. This is a sensitive time for us all, and my young daughter is in bits over it so please be kind and understanding. We are praying for an amazing human to love her and give her the most amazing home. She is currently awaiting placement with the Dog's Trust. As they are currently full, I have decided to see if I can find a good home for her privately. Martha is reactive and has arthritis in her back legs, in which she is medicated for daily. The product she is currently prescribed is Meloxidyl 1.5mg (taken once daily with her food). Her arthritis is not noticeable when she is not overworked with play and treated correctly and she is otherwise a very healthy, gorgeous example of the breed. She also has a preference towards women, therefore would suit a strong willed woman with a heart of gold who can accommodate her needs. She can get along with other dogs with careful introduction. She would best suit a home with no young children as of her arthritis and need for continous reactivity training. She can lunge and pull on the lead at strange dogs, hooded men and will bark at workmen wearing helmets/hi-vis especially if carrying or using tools. She will bark if I am using the iron or a drill in the home. When this happens I do tell her off and she does attempt to calm her anxiety down by walking away. She has fear of the item - not the person so please do not take it to heart! She is very loyal and loving but those noisy items are scary!! A large home with a garden or lots of space to venture would suit Martha as she has bursts of energy and enjoys relaxing in the sun. She also loves cuddles and is very soppy gentle girl. She is quite protective of her humans and would make a fab little guard dog (non aggressive - but will alert and keep you safe ⚠️). She is most definitely capable of learning new things, therefore a owner with history of reactive dogs/reactivity training would suit her. She knows basic commands such as sit, stay, paw (shake), and will wait for her food on command and eat on command. She is fully toilet trained. She is neutered therefore no breeders. To breed an older dog with arthritis would be incredibly cruel, therefore please do not contact me if this is what you are after. If Martha does not suit your home, please do not feel embarrassed to bring her back to me. I will not judge, and I will continue looking for a perfect home. Martha has had a difficult beginning of life, as she witnessed abuse from my ex partner towards me for the first 2 years. This explains her uncertainty around men, especially those in trade uniform. Although Martha is able to get along with men, she can be timid around them. I believe the right home will be a sanctuary for her. She deserves the best of the best to live out the remainder of her life comfortably. Martha eats homemade dog food, consisting of 70% pure beef, 20% sweet potatoes & Carrots and 10% greens (approx) with added salmon oil and brewers yeast. Please when responding to my advert, could you let me know you current circumstances and why you believe you would be a good match for rehoming her. I have put a price to avoid her falling into the wrong hands. Martha is not KC registered as the Olde English Bulldog is not a registered breed but she will come with her NBBR certificate.
