This isn't just any toy poodle with a trendy Asian fusion haircut. These poodles must be directly imported from an Asian country, or they should come from a lineage of Asian poodles. While there isn't an official breed standard, these poodles are typically bred to be compact and square-shaped, featuring short muzzles, large round eyes, and usually docked tails-about 99% of the time to add to the cute teddy look.
The origin of Asian fusion haircuts can be traced back to groomers in Asian countries. These styles perfectly complement the adorable small dogs that resemble living teddy bears you can carry around, 'pocket teddy poodles'
I'd like to emphasize that while dogs must have Asian lineage, they don't need to be directly imported themselves. This can extend to third and fourth generations descended from imported dogs that retain the characteristic features. Not every Asian import grows into the ideal form we're accustomed to. Many Korean dogs have shorter legs and a stocky build, while most Chinese varieties possess longer legs with a shorter body. The primary focus is on the head type featuring a short muzzle and floppy ears. The height can vary significantly, with some dogs standing at 23 cm and weighing 1.2 kg, while others may be 18 cm and weigh 2.5 kg. Docked tails contribute to their cuteness, although it is important to note that this practice is Illegal in the UK.
