Description
Levi fostered North Walsham, Norfolk Levi is a medium sized crossbreed aged around 15 months old. Levi came to us a from the Botosani public shelter in Romania. Having been discarded like rubbish as a baby, he spent his first weeks and months in the squalid conditions there with little to no human interaction. When he arrived in the UK he was terrified of humans and it has taken several weeks to get him to the point that he’s ready to find his forever home. Levi is now a fun loving pup who enjoys being around people he knows well. He is cheeky and playful with us but still very tense and unsure of human touch, this will come with time. Levi is recovering really well from an operation on his leg which he is expected to make a full recovery from. The vet believes trauma at a young age prevented the femoral head developing properly and was thus causing pain when moving against the hip socket. Levi loves to play with the other dogs in his foster home and will need a reasonably playful companion in his new home. We would not consider a home for him that doesn’t already have a resident dog. He’s learning really quickly how to walk on lead and responds well to direction even in these early days. This is definitely his most favourite time of day. He’s a pleasure to take out and it’s lovely to see him enjoying life to the full with his foster pack. He will be very cautious when anyone comes to see him and so needs someone who can see beyond this to the dog he will one day become. He is making such good progress, learning that human contact is actually a really good thing and something to be enjoyed. You can see him visibly relax once cuddles commence, asking for more when it stops. He’s come such a long way in a short space of time and will continue to thrive with someone willing to give him time, love and sausages Levi will need a home with no children under twelve. When you adopt a Safe Rescue dog, you MUST use a slip lead. This will keep your dog safe: your new dog will be nervous and will not trust you, and you will not know which situations might upset your dog. If your dog panics, then a slip lead is the only way to prevent your dog from escaping (many dogs can escape from a collar and/or harness). It will take AT LEAST 3-6 months for your dog to settle-in and for you to know your dog fully (longer for nervous dogs). The slip lead must ALWAYS be used during this settling-in period. Even after your dog is settled, it is safest to use the slip lead in situations where your dog may become scared (e.g. visiting new places, around unfamiliar people, at the vet), and it situations where unexpected triggers might happen (e.g. around bonfire night). Nervous dogs may always need to wear a slip-lead as a back-up safety measure. The slip lead is a safety device and must NEVER be used as a training tool. Using the lead to apply pressure to the dog’s neck is damaging. If your dog pulls on the lead, then we can advise you on training methods that avoid harm. Once your dog is settled, you may want to consider using a harness (together with the slip lead) if your dog is comfortable with being handled when it is fitted. Most harnesses are not escape-proof, but harnesses with a strap behind the ribcage (e.g. Ruffwear Webmaster or Perfect Fit Harnesses) are safer. Retractable / extendable leads must never be used on our dogs. Adopted dogs must be collected from the rescue and transported straight home in a crate. Fences and gates must be 5ft min & secure. If you are interested please message or call between 9am to 5pm Mon - Fri 9am to 4pm Sat on Tel 07788251197 or Tel 07899844524.
