Adult length: 25 to 30 cm (10 to 12 inches)
Lifespan: 10 to 15 years
Tank Setup:
Uaru Cichlids require a spacious tank with a minimum size of 200 litres.
Provide plenty of hiding spots and incorporate driftwood and rocks to mimic their natural habitat.
Water Parameters:
Maintain slightly acidic to neutral water conditions with a pH range of 6.5 to 7.5.
Keep the water temperature between 25 to 28°C (77 to 82°F).
Filtration and Water Flow:
Use a powerful filtration system to maintain water quality, and provide moderate water flow.
Diet:
Uaru Cichlids are omnivores and require a varied diet.
Offer a mix of high-quality pellets, flakes, and supplemented with live or frozen foods like bloodworms, brine shrimp, and chopped vegetables.
Tank mates:
They are generally peaceful but may show aggression during breeding. Suitable tank mates include peaceful community fish of similar size and temperament.
Behavior and Compatibility:
Uaru Cichlids are peaceful but can become territorial during breeding.
They are compatible with other peaceful cichlid species and large, non-aggressive tank mates.
