Roo is almost three years old (born in December 2019) and 28 inches tall. This stunning girl is healthy, full of beans and ready to meet her new family.
Roo is incredibly sweet and gentle but she can be quite nervous. She needs time to warm to new people, once they gain her trust though, she turns into the most affectionate and loving cuddle-bug. She might need time to feel comfortable around some dogs, however she is absolutely fine with dogs her own size and socializes with them straight away. She is naturally very social and friendly. She loves both human and dog company and thrives in a pack environment. She’d benefit greatly from living with another, similarly sized, well behaved and docile-natured dog who’s example she could follow. She instinctively chases cats but one of her best buddies is a Siamese cat with whom she loves to play-fight. As an active and playful pup she’s desperate for a regular playmate and would love to live in a more rural area with large fenced space to run safely and freely. She’s a very agile and clever escape artist, hence a properly secured garden is a must.
Roo is showing many houndlike traits, with naturally extremely sensitive senses, she can pick up scents of wildlife at great distance and catch mice on the fly. She’s not a fan of an urban environment, as it is too stimulating to her sensitive nature. Regular activities like mantrailing or similar would be ideal. She is very intelligent and picks up tricks and commands easily. Training with a girl so eager and quick to learn is only fun and rewarding. She is currently enjoying a raw food and supplements diet but absolutely adores any type of food. Due to her size she will climb on sofas, tables and countertops to get at food - nothing is safe from this acrobat unless in a closed cupboard.
Roo will thrive in a calm, adult only home that would give her the sense of safety. She loves a solid, daily routine that she can settle into, it helps her relax and sleep calmly between other activities. She is very sensitive to being ‘told off’ and she needs a patient and calm owner. She gets intimidated easily and needs a responsible and experienced family who will help her slowly gain more confidence.
Roo is a truly beautiful and gentle soul and a delight to have as a companion. She will come and seek her family out for love and affection and never refuse cuddles, she wants to be as physically close to her humans as possible. She’s a true snuggle dog.
