Description

Luna is our family pet. She was rescued along with her brother and mother at just 2 days old. Her mother is a working cocker spaniel and we were told the father is a Jack Russell, which explains her tiny size! She is 1 year old, we have had her since she was 8 weeks old. She has been microchipped and vaccinated but she has not been spayed yet but has had her first season in September. Unfortunately, Luna really does not like our cats and with the situation continuing to escalate, we have made the decision to rehome her. Luna needs a home where she can be the only pet, definitely a home with no cats or young children, with somebody who is going to be with her for most of the day. I believe she needs somebody with more experienced hands, she was our first dog and we were absolutely unprepared for the behavioural problems! She has severe separation anxiety and will follow you around all day and cry if you leave the room (although this is improving with age). She barks embarrassingly loud when she meets her favourite people on a walk! She resource guards, which has been the biggest problem for us. She guards high value objects such as her toys, treats and even myself and my partner, from the cats, and she snaps and snarls at them if they so much as walk past something she has claimed as her own. I am worried this behaviour could turn into aggression towards cats. Aside from the issues we have been having with our cats, Luna has many lovely attributes. She is crate trained, toilet trained and is very eager to please her owners. She learns new tricks easily and is very good company. I think with a more experienced owner, she would make a fantastic pet. We are just the wrong people for her.
