Echo (from the same litter as sister ‘Avis’) is the girl in the back of the class who was too shy to call out though if you spoke to them they’d reply. Alls a timid soul needs is a space to occupy without everyone else filling it in. Echo is looking for her special person/s / family where she can flourish in the calm tranquility of your home.
We have what I call a ‘promotional caption’ to help dogs that are of a more sensitive persuasion This only really describes an animal that hasn’t been given the opportunity to blossom in a context that allows them to do so. They can be and are transformed upon arrival and a dog that doesn’t brave it here is doing tummy rubs there & zoomies in your garden. We have many owners who will share their experience with you and verify just that. By the same token they sometimes need a bit of time to transition, leaving their friends behind & their shyness and this is when my thoughts turn to ‘singing their souls back home’. It is far more than a promotional appeal. Let me explain a little more if you will allow Echo and I a little of your time. The shamans believed:-
‘If life is too sad or unsafe and threatens our spirits survival the sensible thing for the spirit is to leave and hide somewhere safe leaving an empty shell behind that continues life like a robot.
We have to create a safe place which will encourage the spirit to return. This the single most important thing to do.
Remember what we see in front of us is an empty shell. Untill we can get the spirit back much of our good intentions fall along the way-side & on deaf ears.’
Your home is the safe place. I am trying to reach their souls in an unsafe environment- the pound- and that is why some of these dogs like Echo can never be more than the fence lines that contain them. When they get to your worlds their conscience knows it’s free from danger & they can surface. Dogs like Barney & Angelica that walked on day 1 in the U.K. without training when they couldn’t be walked in 6 months here are verification that we can, just by adopting these timid dogs, save their souls.
It may sound fanciful - it’s not - it’s a reality & it’s also my attempt to say more than the words ‘timid dog’ & box them off as no more than that. There is a whole lake of understanding behind that description. Has your life or existence ever been difficult or perhaps all you’ve ever known is hardship but you still had a lot to offer- if only you had that chance? It’s no different for an animal & I’m doing everything in my power to compel you not to look but to really observe Echo. She is in the shadows in the first place because of bad humans & nightmares can be squashed by a fairy tale when a good person plucks her right out the darkness. Echo is a real life sprite & her wings are waiting to fly… pretty diaphanous wings.
